The
Cardinal Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Cardinal Beats Bat’ Well it was hot, very hot and indeed
oppressive according to some. But that didn’t stop a great turnout for the Santa Decanter,
the final major event on the nnomads Golf Club for
2019. And it is fair to say that the oppressive conditions beat the players with the entire field giving
up after 9 holes. Hence, in true nnomads tradition,
the 9-hole scores were doubled to generate a result, only to discover that
the Cardinal (92,26,66), had beaten the next best player Freddie Five
Iron (110,36,74) by whopping 8 strokes with four players in equal third place
a further two strokes behind. This meant The Cardinal took
the major Bladder points (see - year
to date Bladder), while The Bloke remained at the top of the 2019
club championship leader board meaning he is almost a certain winner in 2019 (see
YTD 2019 championship results).
The committee congratulates The Cardinal on a sensational win and
indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early
for the first major event of 2020, the AMOK to be held on Australia Day. (See
the full Santa Decanter
2019 event report). |

‘Triggered Major 3 (TM3),
November 2019 Date: 30/11/2019 |
|
TJ Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘TJ suffers his way to
another win’ They say – Beware of the sick player which
was certainly the case in the latest Triggered Major played at Swan Island on
a surprisingly warm and sunny day. There were eight competitors in the final
line up who were all keen to do well in the second last major event on the nnomads GC calendar for 2019. But the conditions got the best of most competitors with only
one player producing a score of less than 100 strokes. And that player was TJ
(99,22,77), who had been suffering with a lurgi all week, but still turned up
to compete. And he won by a solid 5 strokes in front of the next best player Rubber
Man, with Curtis a further 4 strokes behind in 3rd
place. This meant TJ took the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder), while The Bloke remains
at the top of the 2019 club championship leader board (see YTD 2019 championship results). The committee congratulates TJ on a sensational win and indeed all
winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the final
major event of the year, the Santa Decanter to be held on the 28th
of December. (See the full Triggered
Major 3 event report). |

‘Melbourne Cup Cup, November 2019 Date: 5/11/2019 |
|
Rubber Man Winner on
Callaway handicap |
‘Rubber Man with MCC after
5-way playoff’ So what do you say about another sensational
Melbourne Cup Cup, run at Yarra Bend on cup day?
And what do you say about five players all ending up on net 75 strokes (using
Callaway handicap), resulting in a five-way, cut-throat shootout to decide
the result? And what do you say about Rubber Man, who eventually
prevailed over TJ, Stavros the Greek, Slugger and Thonbei
the Mist with a brilliant chip to within metres of the pin? All you can
say is it was a fantastic day! This meant Rubber Man took
the major Bladder points (see - year
to date Bladder), while The Bloke
remains at the top of the 2019 club championship leader board (see YTD 2019 championship results). The committee congratulates Rubber Man on a sensational win and
indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for
the next major at Swan Island, on the 30th of November. (see full MCC 2019 event report). |

‘Triggered Major 2 (TM2),
September 2019 Date: 27/9/2019 |
|
Pup Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘The Pooch is Back’ Apparently, the public holiday is named the Grand Final Friday
holiday which was fortunate for the nnomads
Golf Club because it allowed another Triggered Major to be played at
Yarrambat, on a threatening but ultimately ok type of day. A solid field of nine players took
to the 1st tee (a couple of sissy boys pulled out at the last
moment), laying the ground for some sensational and entertaining golf, which
certainly proved to be the case (see full report when released). But it was
our ever-reliable Club Champion Pup (90,20,70), who swept the field
with a two stroke under the card performance and a margin of 5 strokes to
Slugger (100, 25,75) in second place. This meant Pup took the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder), but it wasn’t enough to displace The Bloke (who by the
way went walkabout and didn’t play), who remains at the top of the 2019 club
championship leader board (see YTD
2019 championship results). The committee congratulates Pup on his second major win in 2019
and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book
early for the ‘Melbourne Cup Cup, to be run on
Melbourne Cup Day, the first Tuesday in November. (see full TM2 event report). |

‘Swan Island nnomads Cup’ (SINC), August 2019 Date: 3/8/2019 |
|
TJ Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘TJ perfectly in SINC’ The second annual running of the Swan
Island nnomads Cup’ was another example of what nnomads golf can be all about. There were eight
competitors who braved the potentially arduous conditions which in fact
turned out to be a truly fabulous day with some great golf had by all. And as to be expected, there were
some standout performances with The Hanging Judge and TJ
battling it out on the course. But it was youth that prevailed on the day
with TJ (97,26,71) pipping The Judge (96,24,72) by one stroke
at the post, with an in-form Rubber Man coming in third. This meant TJ took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), but didn’t
upset The Bloke who remains at the top of the 2019 club championship
leader board (see YTD 2019
championship results). The committee congratulates TJ on his second major win and indeed
all winners on the day. The committee again thanks Pup for the use of
his fantastic golf resort which is now cemented as one of primo venues on the
nnomads GC circuit. The committee reminds members
to book early for the ‘Grand Final Triggered Major, to be run in late
September. (See full
SINC event report). |

‘Victorian Open Masters
Invitational Tournament’ (VOMIT), June 2019 Date: 9/6/2019 |
|
The Bloke Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘Bloke & Sphincters
take out Cardinal’s VOMIT’ The inaugural VOMIT-on-Bellarine
turned out to be a superb event played over two days in excellent conditions.
The Teams event, the nnomads Gonads Team cup was
played on the Saturday at Swan Island and the individual’s event, the VOMIT
was played at Curlewis GC on the Sunday. The Team event was a three-man
Ambrose event with the Sphincters (Cardinal, Rubber Man and TJ –
nett 65 strokes), easily wining by two strokes from the Foreskins
(The Bloke, King Billy, and Nurse Min – nett 67 strokes). And in the main VOMIT event for
individual players, The Bloke
(94,17,77) won in a play off from Tommy J (102,25,77), with Billy Bob
Thornton one stroke behind in 3rd place. This meant The Bloke took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), and
displaced Billy Bob to become top
of the 2019 club championship leader board (see YTD 2019 championship results). The committee congratulates The Bloke on another sensational win
and indeed all winners on the day. The committee also thanks the Cardinal
for event organisation of the highest level, and Pup for the use of
his fantastic golf resort. The committee reminds members to book early for
the ‘Swan Island nnomads Cup’, to be run in August.

‘ANZAC Day Medal’ (ADM), April 2019 Date: 25/4/2019 |
|
The Bloke Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘Bloke Blasts Battlefield’ As is normally the case, this year’s
ANZAC Day medal, was played at the Growling Frog, on ANZAC day (logically),
in perfect April conditions. As expected, there was an excellent turn out
with nine nomads vying for the ADM medal and prestigious trophy. This
obviously meant the course was likely to be a battlefield with the true ANZAC
spirit on display. But, The Bloke (84,19,64) had other ideas, blasting his way through
the field to win by five strokes from Rubber
Man (102,32,70), with Billy Bob
Thornton (98,27,71) a stroke behind in 3rd place. This meant The Bloke took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), while Billy Bob maintained his position at
the top of the 2019 club championship leader board (see YTD 2019 championship results). The committee congratulates The Bloke on an inspiring win and
indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early
for the ‘Victorian Open Master Invitational Tournament, to be run on Queens
Birthday Weekend in June. (see full ADM 2019 event report). |

‘Blessed are the Big Nose Cup’ (BBNC), April 2019 Date: 19/4/2019 |
|
Stavros
the Greek Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘Play-off pending’ Well the 3rd major event for 2019,
the Blessed are the Big Nose Cup, was played on the Nursey Course at Yering
Meadows, on Good Friday, in glorious conditions. And as was expected, the
course proved to be very difficult with not a single player getting a sub 100
gross score. And once again, the presentations were held back at Slugger’s place with BBQ in full swing
and a good time had by all. The complication was the fact that Billy Bob Thornton decided to skip the
presentations and head home early. And of course, Billy Bob (108,29,79) ended up equal with Stavros the Greek (102,23,79) on net score, which according the nnomads GC rules, called for a play-off of some type. The
game committee decided to postpone the play-off until the ANZAC Day medal, to
be played the following week. But on that occasion Stavros didn’t turn up leaving the result up in the air. This
means the final outcome won’t be known until both Billy Bob and Stavros
turn up at the same event at which time a play-off of some type will be
conducted. A frustrated committee reminds members
to book early for the ‘ANZAC Day Medal, to be run on ANZAC Day in April, and
hopes Billy Bob and Stavros can resolve this situation at some stage before
the end of 2019. (see BBNC
2019 event report now updated). |

‘Triggered Major 1 (TM1), March 2019 Date: 11/3/2019 |
|
Stavros
the Greek Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘No gifts for the Greek’ So, the second major event for 2019,
the Triggered Major 1, was played at Yarrambat Park, on the long weekend in
March, in absolutely atrocious conditions (duck shit all over the greens and
the course in very poor condition). And despite the on-course impediments,
there was a great turn out with an extremely competitive field of 10 players
stepping up to the 1st tee. At the end of the day there were
three players under the card and another three a stroke or two over the card
illustrating the quality of the on-course play. But it was a surprising final
outcome with Stavros the Greek
(89,23,66), winning by 5 strokes from Markus
Octavious (106,35,71) and the Hanging Judge
(93,22,71) in equal second place, with Nurse
Min (102,29,73) slightly behind in 3rd place. This meant Stavros the Greek took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), while Pup’s
absence saw him displaced from top of the 2019 club championship leader board
albeit very early in the year(see YTD
2019 championship results). The committee congratulates Stavros on his scintillating display
and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book
early for the ‘Blessed are the Big Nose Cup, to be run on Good Friday in
April. (see Full TM1 2019 event report). |

‘Australian Masters Open Kup (AMOK), January 2019 Date: 28/1/2019 |
|
Pup Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘Pup leaves them all in
the dust’ As usual, the first major event for
2019, the Australian Masters Open Kup, was played
at the Growling Frog in 33-degree heat on the long weekend in January. And as
would be expected, there was a great turn out meaning the field of 10 players
was likely to be very competitive. But it was to no one’s surprise to
see the newly crowned 2018 club champion Pup
(87,23,64), leave the field in the dust, winning by 7 strokes from The Bloke (91,20,71) in second place,
with Rubber Man (107,34,73)
slightly further behind. This meant Pup took the first major Bladder points for 2019 (see - year to date Bladder), and
established himself at the top of the 2019 club championship leader board
(see YTD 2019 championship results).
The committee congratulates Pup on his continuing form and indeed
all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the
first Triggered Major for 2019, on the long weekend in March. (see Full AMOK 2019 event
report). |
