Standardised Event Report: ‘Rubber Man wins MCC after 5-way playoff’
November 5^th 2019: As usual, an hour before tee-off, Café-de-Steph was dishing out the coffee and croissants in the Yarra Bend carpark, the traditional starting point for the annual running of the Melbourne Cup Cup. Unlike last year, the weather was kind, turning into a truly beautiful day, and setting up perfect conditions for this year’s event.
Once again there was a full field of 12 players, representing the cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base, which could only be described as a [insert preferred adjective] field. Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3) Sensational, 4) Magnificent or 5) Awe-inspiring: First onto the tee in Group 1 were event co-sponsor Pup, Cinders, Thombei the Mist and TJ, closely followed by Stavros the Greek, Freddie Five Iron, Billy Bob Thornton and Nurse Min in Group 2, with Co-event sponsor Rubber Man, The Cardinal, The Bloke and Slugger in the final group. With such a highly skilled and competitive field, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition (see 2019 Player Groups).	MCC Player groups 2019 Photos
Pure quality on course: And that is exactly how it turned out with a truly a [Rotate alternative adjective] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples included TJ’s three [Rotate alternative adjective] nearest the pins, The Bloke’s two [Rotate alternative adjective] longest drives, Cinders’ [Rotate alternative adjective] longest drive on the 15^th, Sluggers’ [Rotate alternative adjective] NTP somewhere, The Cardinal’s [Rotate alternative adjective] NTP somewhere, and Freddie Five Iron’s [Rotate alternative adjective] shot which ended up in a tree, earning him an excellence on course award. It is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see On Course 2019).	On course MCC 2019 Photos.
Five player shoot-out: As is often the case with Callaway events, the final scores were all pretty close, but this year it was [Rotate alternative adjective], with five players ending up on net 75 strokes at the end of the round. This of course, meant some sort of play-off was required to determine the final result. And after seconds of debate, it was decided to use a single shot, cut-throat, nearest the pin shoot out using a hastily prepared green and flag in front of the grandstand filled to the gunnels with adoring fans (see 2019 MCC 5-way playoff) And the one standout player was Rubber Man who pitched a truly [Rotate alternative adjective] shot within metres of the pin leaving Thombei the Mist, Slugger, TJ, Stavros the Greek lamenting what could have been. Of note was the fact that event co-sponsor Rubber Man hasn’t won the event since 2004, further reinforcing the great man’s comeback in 2019. Sensational presentations: This meant the presentations back in the carpark were a [Rotate alternative adjective] celebration of Rubber Man’s [Rotate alternative adjective] performance and quite rightly so (see Photos of 2019 presentations). ‘I appreciate everybody for getting up and coming along once again on cup day …” started out Rubber Man in his politically correct and well received winner’s speech (see 2019 Champion Winner Speech). The Club committee congratulates Rubber Man on his [Rotate alternative adjective] return to the MCC winners’ podium and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also observes that de brother’s hospitability was once again, simply standout. The committee also reminds members to book early for the next major nnomads Golf Club event which will be held at Swan Island on the last weekend in November. So, book early and see you there.
