‘Santa Decanter (SD), December 2018 Date: 29/12/2018 |
|
TJ Winner on nnomads handicap |
‘TJ Bats to Win’ So, the final major event for 2018,
the Santa Decanter, was run at Yarrambat Park on a muggy day late in December
with an excellent field in fine form. But at the end of the day it was TJ (90,28,62), who simply smashed the
field winning by 7 strokes from Rubber
Man (99,30,79) in second place, with Pup
(94,21,73) slightly further behind. This meant TJ took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) but once
again nothing had any impact on Pup’s
unassailable position at the top of the leader board (see YTD 2018 championship results). Unless
there is a Triggered Major in the next two days, Pup will become the club
champion yet again. The committee congratulates TJ on his impressive win and indeed
all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the AMOK
to be run on Australia Day 2019, unless a Triggered Major
pops up before then. (See
full SD event report). |

‘Melbourne Cup Cup (MCC), December 2018 Date: 1/12/2018 |
|
The Cardinal Winner on Callaway handicap |
‘Cardinal Breaks Drought
After Rain’ Well what a shemozzle this years Melbourne Cup Cup turned
out to be. It all began as usual on the first Tuesday in November, which was
rained out, delaying the event until the 1st of December, when the
event was eventually finalised. And what fun it was making this year one of
the most memorable Melbourne Cup Cups ever. The bottom line was that The Cardinal (100,27,73) took out the
event on Callaway handicap three strokes clear of Thombei the Mist (106,30,76), and Pup
(98,22,76) in equal 2nd place. This meant The Cardinal took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) and boosted
his position in the 2018 club championship. But it didn’t have any impact on Pup’s unassailable position at the top
of the leader board (see YTD 2018
championship results). The committee congratulates The Cardinal on his brilliant win and
indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early
for the Santa Decanter on the 29th of June, unless a Triggered Major pops up before then. (See full MCC event report). |

‘Triggered Major 3’ (TM-3), September 2018 Date: 28/09/2018 |
|
Slugger Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Slugger Growls at the
Frog’ So another Triggered Major did pop up
and it was held at the Growling Frog on the Grand Final holiday in late
September. And of note was the fact that current leader in the club
championship, Pup, was unable to attend, leaving a real opportunity for other
members to get their hands on a trophy. And that is exactly what Slugger
did (97,28,69), who came in three strokes under the card and a whopping 5
strokes clear of Nurse Min
(108,34,74), and Stavros the Greek
(100,26,74) inequal
2nd place. This meant Slugger took the
major Bladder points (see - year to
date Bladder) and boosted his position in the 2018 club championship (see
YTD 2018 championship results).
The committee congratulates Slugger
on his glorious win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
reminds members to book early for Melbourne Cup Cup
which will be run on the 1st weekend in November unless a Triggered Major
doesn’t pop up before then. (See full TM3 event report). |

‘Swan Island nnomads Cup’ (SINC), September 2018 Date: 8/09/2018 |
|
Pup Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Pup in SINC with the
Island’ Finally, a new event was introduced to the nnomads
Golf Club calendar, namely the Swan Island nnomads
Cup (SINC), played at the picturesque Queenscliff Golf Club on Swan Island on
the Bellarine peninsular. And as event organiser, it was no surprise that Pup (102,22,80) just scraped home two strokes clear of The Bloke (102,19,83) and The Cardinal (107,24,83) in equal 2nd
place. And its fair to say the very high scores across the field did not
reflect the large amounts of quality red wine among other things consumed the
previous evening. This meant Pup once again
took the major Bladder points (see - year
to date Bladder) and further cemented his lead at the top of the leader
board in the 2018 club championship (see YTD 2018 championship results). The committee congratulates Pup on
another fabulous win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds
members to book early for Melbourne Cup Cup which
will be run on the 1st weekend in November if another Triggered Major doesn’t
pop up before then. (See
full SINC event report).

‘Triggered Major 2, (TM-2), August 2018 Date: 25/08/2018 |
|
Pup Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Pup bends it again’ So it was all about Billy Bob’s
birthday and a 9 hole triggered major at Yarra Bend on a sunny day in June.
Nine hole you say? Yes, well that is what everyone said but it was a
brilliant event with significantly fewer aching bodies at the end of it all. And at the end of it all, Pup
was again a standout (88,20,68) who came in two strokes under the card and
well ahead of the current club champion The
Bloke in 2nd place (92,17,75), with Markus Octavious a further two strokes
behind. This meant Pup took the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder) and further cemented his lead at the top of the leader board in
the 2018 club championship (see YTD
2018 championship results). The committee congratulates Pup on
another convincing win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
reminds members to book early for Melbourne Cup Cup
which will be run on the 1st weekend in November unless another Triggered
Major doesn’t pop up before then. (See full TM2 event report). |

‘Victorian Open Masters Invitational
Tournament (VOMIT), June 2018 Date: 11/06/2018 |
|
Pup Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Pup leads Poo Joggers to
Victory’’ So there were drop outs, no shows and
on course sickness at the annual running of the Victorian Open Masters Invitational
tournament which meant the name VOMIT was once again extremely appropriate
for both the singles and team event. The standout player in the singles was Pup (93,21,72) who came in even with the card and two strokes
clear of The Hanging Judge in 2nd
place (96,22,74), with Stavros the
Greek and The Bloke a further
stroke behind. And the stand out team this year was the Poo Joggers (Net 78.75 strokes) who slaughtered the Micuturators (net 80.3 strokes) to take out the nnomads GONADS Teams cup. This meant Pup took the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder) and cemented his lead at the top of the leader board in the 2018
club championship (see YTD 2018
championship results). It also meant the Poo Joggers won the Beer, seen by many as the main game. The committee congratulates Pup on
his sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds
members to book early for Melbourne Cup Cup which
will be run on the 1st weekend in November if a Triggered Major doesn’t pop
up before then. (See Full
2018 VOMIT event report).

‘ANZAC Day Medal, April 2018 Date: 25/04/2018 |
|
Slugger Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Slugger Chips Up to Win’’ Well it was a perfect day for the annual running of the ‘ANZAC Day
Medal’, at the Growling Frog and once again eleven competitors made it to the
1st tee. And once again some brilliant golf was played with six
players coming in under the card at the end of the day. But there were two standout players being Slugger (92,26,66) and The
Hanging Judge (90,24,66), who both came in 6 strokes under the card. This
of course meant there needed to be a chip-off in the car park to decide the
outcome. And it was Slugger who
prevailed which was probably lucky because The Hanging Judge won the event in 2017 and 2016, hence a bit of
new blood went down well with the Gallery. This meant Slugger took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) but again it
didn’t impact on Pup who remains at the top of the leader board in the 2018
club championship (see YTD 2018
championship results). The committee congratulates Slugger
on his sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
reminds members to book early for VOMIT which will be run on the Queen’s
Birthday weekend in June. (See full ADM 2018 event report). |

‘Blessed are the Big Nose’ cup,
(BBNC), March 2018 Date: 30/03/2018 |
|
The Hanging Judge Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Judge Hangs Field out to dry’ There was a great turnout for the annual running of the ‘Blessed are
the Big Nose’ Cup, on Good Friday 2018, with eleven competitors making it to
the 1st tee. And the Yering Meadow’s Homestead course proved to be every bit the challenge its’ slope
rating of 139 indicates it to be. Within that context, the standout player was The Hanging Judge (102,27,75), who came in 2 stokes over the card
to win the event from Billy Bob
Thornton (107, 31,76) one stroke behind in second place, and Thombei The Mist (104,25,79) a couple of
strokes further back in third place. This meant the presentations and sausage sizzle back at Slugger’s place (thanks Slugger), was
all the more impressive because the Judge
took the major Bladder points (see - year
to date Bladder) but didn’t impact on Pup who remains at the top of the
leader board in the 2018 club championship (see YTD 2018 championship results). The committee congratulates The
Hanging Judge on his sensational win and indeed all winners on the day.
The committee reminds members to book early for the ANZAC Day medal, 2018 to
be run at the Growling Frog on ANZAC Day. (See full BBNC event report). |

Triggered Major 1, (TM-1),
March 2018 Date: 12/03/2018 |
|
Pup |
‘Pup Kills Bat’ Well, the Yarrambat Park course was in the worse condition I have ever
seen with duck shit all over the uneven and problematic greens, making
putting a nightmare and extremely challenging for all who contested the first
Triggered Major for 2018. But that didn’t stop the crème of the field who seemed to excel in the
terrible conditions. This was best exampled by Pup (89,21,68), who came in 4 stokes
under the card to win the event from Freddie
Five Iron (107, 36,71) with one stoke under the card in second place, and
Curtis (88,14,74) a couple of
strokes further back in third place. In effect Pup ‘killed’ it on
the day giving him a clean sweep of the major events year to date. This also
meant Pup took the major Bladder
points (see - year to date Bladder)
and continued the year at the top of the leader board in the 2018 club
championship (see YTD 2018
championship results). The committee congratulates Pup on
his outstanding on-course performance and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee also reminds members to book early for the Blessed are the Big Nose
Kup, 2018 to be run on Good Friday in late March.

report). |

Australian Masters Open Kup, (AMOK), January 2018 Date: 26/01/2018 |
|
Pup |
‘Immediate past Club Champ Runs AMOK’ Once again, The Growling Frog was in tip superb condition on a beastly
and stifling hot day which proved to be a challenge for the nine elite nnomads GC members who turned out to compete in the
Australian Masters Open Kup for 2018. Those who
played in carts certainly had an advantage over the player who walked, to say
the least. And as usual, it was a tight competition with some truly spectacular
golf on display. But at the end or regular play, immediate past Club Champion
Pup (90,23,67), came in two strokes
in front of Billy Bob Thornton
(100,31,69) with Thombei The Mist (98,26,72) a couple of
strokes behind. Of note was the fact that Pup was already the reigning AMOK
champion which meant he just put the trophy back into his car to be returned
to its place on his mantlepeice for another year.
This also meant Pup took the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder) and also started the year in front in the 2018 club championship
(see YTD 2018 championship results). The committee congratulates Pup on
his outstanding on-course performance and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee also reminds members to book early for first Triggered Major for
2018 to be run on Labour Day in March. (See full AMOK 2018 event
report). |
