Slugger 25th April 2018 The Growling Frog |
Standardised Event Report: ‘Slugger chips up to win ADM’ |
|
April 25th 2018: Lest we forget: Once
again, this year’s annual running of the ANZAC Day medal was at the glorious
Growling Frog where the conditions were near perfect and the course in
tip-top condition. |
|
And eleven club
members turned out to remember, representing a solid cross section of the
cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base,
creating only what could be described as a [insert
preferred adjective] field. Preferred headline alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3)
Sensational, 4) Magnificent or 5) Awe-inspiring: First onto the
tee in Group 1 were Freddie Five iron,
Markus Octavious, The Hanging Judge and Pup, closely followed by Group 2
including Nurse Min, The Bloke, Billy
Bob Thornton and Thombei The Mist and the final group with Stavros The
Greek, Curtis and Slugger. With such a highly skilled field like this, it was
clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition (see 2018 Player Groups). |
|
Solid competition on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly a [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples of
such expertise included Nurse Min’s
[Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] NTP on the 5th, Thombei The Mist’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] Longest drive on the 8th, and The Bloke’s two [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] NTPs on the 2nd and 12th, and his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] Longest drive on the 15th (see 2018 on course
photos). |

Slugger chips up to win:
So once again, at the end of the day there were two players
equal on net 66 strokes including The
Hanging Judge (90,24,66), and Slugger
(92,26,66) who were both six strokes under the card. As usual, this meant a
playoff or more accurately, a chip-off was required in which Slugger prevailed over The Judge in front of an adoring
gallery in the Growling Frog carpark (see video coverage of 2018 play-off).
Fantastic presentations: This meant the subsequent presentations were a [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] celebration of Slugger’s
[Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] performance during which last two year’s champion The Hanging Judge’s presented Slugger
with the ADM pin and ADM trophy again in front of an adoring gallery and
player group. “Well I recon its all
good …” started Slugger in his
acceptance speech which went onto acknowledge players and the organising
committee (see the 2018 Winners speech video and 2018 presentations photos). |
|
The Club
committee congratulates Slugger on
his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] win and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee
also reminds members that the next major event in 2018 is the ‘Melbourne Cup Cup
to be run on the 1st Tuesday in in November (unless a triggered
major occurs beforehand). So, book
early and see you there. |
