The Santa Decanter (SD) -
2011 Date: 27/12/2011 |
|
|
|
Thombei takes the Tequila: In a masterful performance at the Growling Frog (blue tees), Thombei the Mist won the Santa Decanter by
one stroke from Shags in 2nd
place and Telfon
a further two strokes behind in 3rd. And it was a game to remember because
records were broken. For example, not a single NTP went off all day and only
one of two longest drives went off - to Pete with a fabulous drive on the 8th
hole (see full event report).

SHanksy invitational Tournament (SHiT) -
2011 Date: 3/12/2011 |
|
|
|
Bloke takes a SHiT: Maintaining his brilliant 2011 form, The Bloke took out the Shanksy Invitational Tournament at Kingston Links last
Saturday by one stroke from Bull to
almost assure him of the club championship in 2011. With 90 strokes off the
stick and a bandit handicap of 22 strokes, his net 68 put him five strokes
under the ACR (73) and 4 strokes under par (72), a sensational performance in
anyone’s language (see full
event report) |

Melbourne Cup Cup (MCC) - 2011 Date: 1/11/2011 |
|
|
|
Mist in Cup Cup playoff: In a sensational outcome Thombie the Mist won the Melbourne Cup Cup in a three way playoff against Shags and The Bloke at Yarra
Bend on the first Tuesday of November. Thombie and The Bloke made it through the first
round of the play off (bad luck Shags) to set up an exciting finale to this
fabulous event (see full
event report including exclusive
video coverage of play-off in full low definition detail). |

|
|
|
A BIT for Telfon:
In a fabulous performance, Teflon won the
BIT 2011 by one stroke from equal second place getters Mild Colonial Boy and Afheed. Also boasting a large turnout (a field of nineteen
competitors), St Andrews stepped up to the mark presenting perfect conditions
for this iconic event. See full event report. |

Classic callaway
for Judge: The
ever popular Hanging Judge won the
TSCC 2011 by one stroke from equal second place getters Nicko and The Dream at
Flinders GC on the Mornington peninsular in early October. Boasting a huge
turnout, the TSCC 2011 was an event to remember, as was the Judge’s face when
he realised he had won. See full event report. |

Patricia Isabel Slape Memorial Golf Tournament (PIS) - 2011 Date: 8-9/7/2011 |
|
|
|
The Captain takes another
PIS: Well the 2011
PIS was a sensational event not just because it was run in the magnificent
Barossa Valley in South Australia, and not just because of the fabulous wine
that was on offer (thanks sponsor Kaelser Wines)
including a bottle of Old Bastard
that went down beautifully with the pig on a spit on the Saturday night, and
not just because Tanunda Pines proved to be a perfect venue for the event,
and not just because two times PIS champion Normie made it up for the event
....... It was because The Captain made history by winning the event for the
third time, something that mere mortals can only dream of. Hence, it was an
awe struck crowd that watched on as last year’s PIS head Bozie
passed the coveted Green Jacket onto now triple PIS champion Ricko. The committee
congratulates The Captain on a truly brilliant performance and reminds
members that having a PIS is a natural function that
everybody should experience on an ongoing basis. See full event report |

Triggered Major 1 - 2011 Date: 7/5/2011 |
|
|
|
Teflon Takes Out Triggered: While the possibility of a Triggered
Major has been on the cards for at least 12 months, it finally happened last
weekend. When 10 or more players
turn up for golf, that game automatically becomes a Triggered Major which is a nnomads Golf
Club sanctioned major event with full championship status. And that is what
happened last weekend. Mind you the main attraction was the presence of the Maroon Breasted Warbler who had flown
in from Queensland especially for the event (code of in Melbourne for a
conference). Fortunate for
Teflon (100, 30, 70), because he won the event by one stroke from The
Cardinal (98, 27, 71) and the Bloke in 3rd (97, 24, 73). Teflon
and the Bloke also took out the longest drives while Shags and Slugger took
out the NTPs. The committee
congratulates Teflon on a wonderful performance and reminds members that work
and family come first, straight after golf. See the full event report |

ANZAC Day Medal - 2011 Date: 23/4/2011 |
|
|
|
Bloke earns Medal On ANZAC
Day: Lest we forget that the Bloke took out the second major event
for 2011 at the Growling Frog in late April. In fact he was a worthy winner
of the ANZAC Day Medal because he beat equal second placegetters Shags and Timo by a very impressive nine
strokes. This implies that the other nine competitors (all nett 80 strokes plus) were left pointlessly fighting it
out in the trenches (not far from the truth), including Pup who was mistakenly named as an equal second place getter but
really came equal fifth with Thombie (...and yes Pup has to give back his ball – or at
least an adjustment will be made). Shags
and Teflon took out the longest
drives while The Bloke took out two
NTPs, along with Teflon and Pup who got one NTP each. The
committee congratulates Steph on his continuing form in 2011 and reminds
members that many men died to gain our freedom so use your freedom to the max
by playing more golf. See the full event report |

Australian Master Open Kup - 2011 Date: 26/1/2011 |
|
|
|
Bloke runs AMOK at Growling
Frog: In a
sensational play off, Steph took out the first major event for 2011 in a
somewhat depleted field of five. Shooting 98 strokes off the stick, the
‘Bloke’ ended up net 78 strokes, exactly the same as club champion Pup
(96,18,78), invoking a play-off down the first hole. But the club champion
stalled on the tee (drubbed it) and faltered on his second (into the rough),
opening the door for a very much in form Steph who made good use of the
opportunity in front of a gallery packed to the rafters (see television
coverage of playoff in full report). Other winners on the day included The
Hanging Judge who took out the longest drive and one NTP, and Pup who took
out second and the other NTP. The club congratulates Steph on his brilliant
win and reminds members that sickness
and injury is not an excuse for not playing golf. See the full event
report. |
