Event Report: ‘Bloke pips Bull at SHiT’ Saturday 3rd
December 2011: As would be expected,
Kingston Links turned it on once again for the annual running of the Shanksy Invitational Tournament for 2011. And as would be
expected, this most prestigious event attracted a quality field including
Event sponsor Shags (logically),
soon to be club champion The Bloke,
Last year’s club champion Pup, the
previous years club champion Slugger,
past event winner Bull, another
past event winner The Hanging Judge,
and never been club champion and never won this event Telflon and Markus Octavious.
Hence, the scene was set for a sensational day of competition (see SHiT 2011
player groups). Tough on course competition:
And that’s what it turned out to be, a tough competition. And
that wasn’t because of the weather or the condition of the course because this
5,682 metre ACR 73 layout was in superb condition and the weather perfect for
golf. Rather, it was because the field was close all day with at least five
competitors constantly within a stroke or two of each other including The Bloke, Bull, Slugger, Teflon and
Markus Octavious. Hence, it was almost anyone’s
game until the final few holes (see on
course at the SHiT 2011). Bloke pips Bull at the
post: But there has to be a winner and at the
end of the day and at the end of this day The
Bloke (90,22,68) pipped Bull (95,26,69) by a single stroke with the top five contenders all
within four strokes of each other (see detailed results below). However,
while it appeared to be close on paper it is fair to say that The Bloke did it well illustrated by
his two nearest the pins and a longest drive to add to his trophy. Bull also got an NTP as did Shags while Slugger took out the other longest drive and The Hanging Judge took out the pineapple award for 2011. This
meant that the presentations in the Kingston Links car park almost
exclusively revolved around The Bloke
and Bull and deservedly so (see 2011 SHiT
presentations). The Club committee congratulates Steph
on another brilliant performance and special thanks event sponsor Shanksy for putting on another sensation event. As a
number of you might suspect, this win put The
Bloke in an almost unassailable position in the nnomads
Cub championship for 2011 with a single event remaining on the 2011 event calendar.
