‘Santa Decanter’ - 2015 Date: 28/12/2015 |
|
|
‘Pup Canters across the Line’ Well the last nnomads Golf Club major event
for the year was really something to remember. For example, Don Johnson turned up to provide
encouragement to the field, walking the last four holes with the players
before joining the after match celebrations. Being the last time we will see
the Don for a while made it
particularly memorable. “Well he better
remember to come home once in a while. Otherwise we won’t have a SHIT for
years" observed Markus Octavious. But the most memorable element on the day was Pup’s sensational performance coming in 4 strokes under the card
(89,23,66) which was two strokes in front of Stavros the Greek (92,24,68) and eight strokes in from of third
placegetter The Bloke (92,18,74). Pup further illustrated his class
taking out the Best-off-the-stick and two longest drives. This gave Pup a big boost on
the Bladder (see - year to date
Bladder) but didn’t change the standings in the club championship in
which The Cardinal maintains his
convincing lead (see YTD 2015
championship results) and is a dead cert to win the championship assuming
someone doesn’t call for a Triggered Major and put in a truly exceptional
performance in the next couple of days (but you never know). The committee congratulates Pup
on an exceptional performance and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee also reminds members that the 1st major event in 2016
will be on Australia Day, 26th of January. So book early to avoid
disappointment - (See
full SD event report). |

‘Shanksy Invitational Tournament - 2015 Date: 5/12/2015 |
|
|
‘Cardinal SHITs
in confessional’ So the last Shanksy Invitational Tournament
(SHIT) for a while (because event sponsor Don Johnson is going home to
America again), was an event to behold. And as usual it was run on a
beautiful sunny day with a light breeze at Kingston Links. Being the last SHIT for a while, it attracted an impressive field with
a number of players showing brilliant form. But there was a standout
performer on the day being The Cardinal
who unbelievably ended up thirteen strokes under the card (84,25,59). This was not to talk down 2nd place
getter Rubber Man (88,21,67) who ended up 5 strokes under the card or 3rd
place getter The Hanging Judge (94,
25, 69) who was three under the card. But it was difficult not to be in awe of The Cardinal’s performance which was a personal best according to
nnomads Gold Club records. Further, his performance
almost certainly gives him the 2015 nnomads Glf Club championship (see YTD 2015 championship results)
albeit one major event to go. It also gave him a boost on the 2015 Bladder
(see - year to date Bladder).
“A big ‘shout out’ and ‘up you’ thanks to my playing partners on the
day" he started out in his press release (see The Cardinal’s SHIT press release) The committee congratulates The
Cardinal on an amazing performance and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee also reminds members that the Santa Decanter,
will be run on the 28th of December. So book early to avoid
disappointment. - (See
full SHIT event report). |

‘Melbourne Cup Cup’ (MCC) - 2015 Date: 3/11/2015 |
|
|
‘Bloke takes 2nd Melbourne Cup Cup’ As members will know, the Melbourne Cup Cup
is one of the most desirable nnomads Golf Club event to attend and indeed win. This is in part driven by
the fabulous take home MCC trophy and in part driven by the fabulous
hospitality provided by the event sponsors – “De Seal Bros’. And once again the event returned to its
traditional course – Yarra Bend which was in lovely condition albeit a slow
track on the day. And as members would know, this is a Callaway event where handicaps are
calculated on the day using the Callaway scoring system which worked
particularly well for The Bloke
(94,21,73) who normally plays of 18 strokes, and was able to beat the next
equally best contenders Pup
(95,20,75) and Billy Bob Thornton
(98,23,75). This meant The Bloke got the
fabulous MCC take home trophy and indeed a few bladder points (see - year to date Bladder). However,
the result was not enough to stop The
Cardinal moving into the top
spot on the year to date club championship ladder (see YTD 2015 championship results). The committee congratulates The
Bloke on convincing win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
also reminds members that the Shanksy Invitational
Tournament (SHIT), will be run on the 5th
of December. So book early to avoid disappointment. - (See full MCC event
report). |

‘Four Man Teams Event With Great Name’ (FMTEGN) - 2015 Date: 10/10/2015 |
|
|
‘Mitchell’s Brawlers monster teams Ambrose
event’ So this year the BIT weekend introduced the Four Man Teams Event with great name (FMTEGN) which was played at
RACV Cape Schanck Resort. And what a brilliant event it was
albeit one team only had three players. Within the context of a very close contest – NOT, Mitchell’s Brawlers (64,12.9,51.1) took out the event from Steph’s Sisters of Mercy
(70,17.3,52.7), Min and the Nursettes (69, 12.5,56.1) with The Judge and Jury (73,13.4,59.6) rounding out the field. This meant Mild Colonial boy, The
Tanunda Kid, Don Johnson and Freddie Five Iron got the medals and the well-deserved accolades from
the adoring gallery and indeed a few bladder points (see - year to date Bladder). The committee congratulates Mitchell’s
Brawlers on convincing win and indeed all winners on the day - (See full FBA
TEAMS event report). |

‘Balnarring Invitational Tournament’ (BIT) - 2015 Date: 9/10/2015 |
|
|
‘Mild takes out last BIT’ Once again the premier event on the nnomads
Golf Club calendar, namely the Balnarring
Invitational Tournament (The BIT) was a screaming success. And once again Mild Colonial Boy
(85,18,67) showed what retirement can do for your
golf by beating Nurse Min, Don Johnson,
King Billy and Stavros the Greek
by two strokes. This meant Mild continued
his winning performance, took the Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) and gained
entry to the club championship race (see YTD 2015 championship results). The committee again congratulates Mild
on an outstanding performance and indeed all winners on the day. - (See full BIT and TSCC event report). |

‘Tulum Sands Callaway Classic’ (TSCC) - 2015 Date: 9/10/2015 |
|
|
‘Mild too classy in Callaway classic’ This year’s Tulum Sands Callaway
Classic (TSCC) was back to its original format where it was played in
conjunction with the BIT and what an event it was. So to begin his domination of the weekend, Mild Colonial Boy (85,14,71) beat Stavros the Greek by two strokes with Curtis and Nurse Min a
further two strokes behind. This meant Mild
took the first set of Bladder points available for the event (see - year to date Bladder) although the
event didn’t contribute to the club championship. The committee congratulates Mild on
a brilliant performance and indeed all winners on the day. - (See full BIT and TSCC event report). |

‘Victorian Open Masters Invitational Tournament’ (VOMIT) - 2015 Date: 7/6/2015 |
|
|
‘Bloke VOMITS with Sphincters’ So the ‘Blessed are the Big Nose’
Cup 2015 turned out to be all of what was expected albeit played off the
white tees designed for males over 85 years old. “We are not that far off that age” reinforced Markus Octavious to the professional after he explained why the
white tees were so far in front of the red woman's tees. Within this context, the score cards didn’t really look that different
to normal except for The Cardinal
(91,26,65) who played out of his pants to end up net
65 strokes, a full 12 strokes in front of the next best player on the day.
This meant The Cardinal took out
the majority of the Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) and slipped
into top place on the year to date 2015 club championship ladder – when
adjusted for the number of cards submitted (see YTD 2015 championship results). The committee congratulates The
Cardinal on a sensational performance and indeed all |

‘ANZAC Day Medal’ (ADM) - 2015 Date: 25/4/2015 |
|
|
‘Billy Bob Bumps them out of the trenches’ As usual, the Anzac Day Medal was played at the Growling Frog where the
nnomads Golf Club generally congregates to remember
those who died in the numerous 20th century wars – Lest We Forget! And it was fair to say the day was unforgettable in a number of ways
including Billy Bob Thornton’s
(98,30,68) four stroke under the card performance and the fact he came in
seven strokes in front of the next best player Curtis (90,15,75) with Slugger
(99,23,76) a further stroke behind. This meant Billy Bob took out the majority of the Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) and significantly
boosted his chances for the 2015 club championship (see YTD 2015 championship results). The committee congratulates Bily Bob Thornton on
a sensational performance and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
reminds members of the upcoming ‘Victorian Open Master Invitational
Tournament (VOMIT) to be run on the long weekend in June. So book early so as
not to be disappointed (See Full ADM event report). |

‘Blessed are the Big Nose’ Cup (BBNC) - 2015 Date: 8/4/2015 |
|
|
‘Cardinal makes out in the meadows’ So the ‘Blessed are the Big Nose’
Cup 2015 turned out to be all of what was expected albeit played off the
white tees designed for males over 85 years old. “We are not that far off that age” reinforced Markus Octavious to the professional after he explained why the

Triggered Major 1 (TM1) -
2015 Date: 9/2/2015 |
|
|
‘Nurse Bats Best in Park’
Well, talk about a controversial event! This had it all including the
need for a technical interpretation of the rules, the possibility of changing
the name of the event after it had been played, the possibility of ringing a
member to create a quorum, and a display of complete indifference by the
majority of competitors during the presentations. But it didn’t matter because Nurse
Min (101,32,69) was a clear and decisive winner
beating the next best player The
Cardinal (99,27,72) by a clear three strokes. This meant Nurse Min took
out the majority of the Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder) and slipped
into top place on the year to date 2015 club championship ladder (see YTD 2015 championship results). The committee congratulates Nurse
Min on a brilliant performance and indeed all winners on the day. The committee
observes that the major event program is well and truly underway and
encourages members to compete at the next major event – The ‘Blessed are the
Big Nose' Cup to be run on Good Friday. (See
Full TM1-2015
event report) |

Australia Masters Open Kup (AMOK) - 2015 Date: 26/1/2015 |
|
|
‘The Bloke Runs AMOK’ So once again, there was the issue of some confirmed players not
turning up for the Australia Open Master Kup 2015
as was the case in 2013 and a number of years before. Guess who it was? Hint - Has a relationship with Rome, known
to turn up to golf with a large cross wearing robes etc
etc. But it didn’t matter because the eight players that did turn up were the
cream of the crop, all bursting to
compete for the highly sought after perpetual AMOK trophy. Little did they know that The
Bloke was in fine form (91,18,73) producing a
one stroke over the card performance to sweep the field clean. And that meant
that The Bloke took out the major
Bladder points (see - year to date
Bladder) and slipped into top place on the year to date 2015 club
championship ladder (see YTD 2014
championship results). The committee congratulates The
Bloke on a convincing start to 2015 and indeed all winners on the day.
The standard has certainly been set high in the first nnomads
Golf Club major event in 2015 (See Full AMOK event report).
