‘Santa Decanter’, December, 2020

Date: 30/12/2020
Course: Yarrambat Park, Yarrambat, Victoria

Stavros the Greek

Winner on nnomads GC handicap

‘Stavros Devours Santa’s Decanter

So, the last nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020 was as usual, the Santa Decanter, again run at Yarrambat Park on a very pleasant day. You could say it was another Yarrambat kind of day.

But it wasn’t a usual day because Stavros the Greek (94,21,73) blitzed the field, ending up one over the card, and a full 5 strokes in front of 2nd place getter Slugger (101,23,78), with Markus Octavious (115,34,81), a further 3 strokes behind in 3rd place.

This meant Stavros took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), but it also meant he displaced The Bloke on the club championship leader board, which means Stavros will win the 2020 nnomads Golf Club championship, unless there is a Triggered Major event played on the 31st of December, which is today! (see YTD 2020 championship results).

The committee congratulates Stavros the Greek on a sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the first event of 2021, the Australian Masters Open Kup (AMOK) to be held at the Growling Frog on Australia Day. (See full SD 2020 event report).

‘Triggered Major 2 (TM2), November 2020

Date: 28/11/2020
Course: Swan Island, Queenscliff, Victoria

Nurse Min

Winner on nnomads GC handicap

‘Front Line Nurse Beats Field’

Finally, the fourth nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020 was able to happen after many months of lockdown. And wouldn’t you know it, in near perfect conditions for social distancing on an island in Port Philip Bay.

And for the 2nd time this year, Nurse Min (101,32,69) easily beat the rest of the field with The Cardinal (104,26,78), in 2nd place, and Stavros the Greek (106,23,83) and Pup (102,19,83) back in equal third place.

This meant Nurse Min took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), but once again he couldn’t displace The Bloke who continues to lead the club championship (see YTD 2020 championship results).

The committee congratulates Nurse Min on another brilliant win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the final major event of 2020, the Santa Decanter (SD) to be held at Yarrambat Park late in December. (see Full TM2 2020 event report).

‘Victorian Open Masters Invitational Tournament (VOMIT), June 2020

Date: 7/6/2020
Course
: Yarrambat Park, Yarrambat, Victoria

Stavros the Greek

Winner on nnomads GC handicap

‘Stavros Scissors beats Pup Paper’

So, the third nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020 finally happened in near perfect conditions for social distancing and with another great turnout.

This time Stavros the Greek (92,18,74) and Pup (91,17,74) ended up equal lowest score beating The Bloke (93,16,77), and Billy Bob Thornton (100,23,77) back in equal third place, by three strokes.

This of course meant a play-off was required to determine the final winner which under the nnomads GC rules can involve a paper, scissors, rock competition. An so it was with Stavros the Greek prevailing using ‘scissors’ over an inspiring Pup using ‘paper’ in front of a very excited gallery.

That meant Stavros took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), but he couldn’t displace The Bloke who continues to lead the club championship (see YTD 2020 championship results).

The committee congratulates Stavros on a sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the fourthj major event of 2020, the Swan Island nnomads Cup (SINC) to be held on the Bellarine in August 2020. (See full VOMIT 2020 event report).

‘Triggered Major 1 (TM1), March 2020

Date: 9/2/2020
Course
: Yarrambat Park, Yarrambat, Victoria

Nurse Min

Winner on nnomads GC handicap

‘On-Course-Medic on Course’

Well, the second nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020 also went off without a hitch, in perfect conditions and with a great turnout.

This time Nurse Min ended up one stroke over the card (102,29,73), easily beating Slugger (102,23,73), by six strokes, with Stavros the Greek and TJ tied a further stroke behind in third place. Hence, it was a convincing performance by the on-course-medic, which the large gallery of kangaroos enjoyed watching immensely.

What was not known at the time was that Rubber Man didn’t add up his score properly. He diddled himself out of xxxx place, but that’s another story. Once prizes have been won, they stay won. But it does emphasise the need to check score cards properly.

That said, this all meant Nurse Min took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), and is on-course to climb up the club championship leader board where The Bloke maintains his lead by 1.5 strokes (see YTD 2020 championship results).

The committee congratulates Nurse Min on a sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the third major event of 2020, the Blessed are the Big Nose Cup to be held on Good Friday in April. (see Full TM1 2020 event report).

‘Australian Open Masters Kup (AMOK), January 2020

Date: 27/1/2020
Course: Growling Frog, Yan Yean, Victoria

The Bloke

Winner on nnomads GC handicap

‘Bloke runs AMOK’

So, the first nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020 went off without a hitch in perfect conditions and with a great turnout.

And it is fair to say that other than TJ (93,26,67), the newly crowned club champion – The Bloke (86,20,66) had little competition in his first outing for 2020, winning by one stroke from TJ and ending up 5 strokes under the card.

This meant The Bloke took the major Bladder points (see - year to date Bladder), and again started 2020 at the top of the club championship leader board (see YTD 2020 championship results).

The committee congratulates The Bloke on a brilliant win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for the second major event of 2020, the triggered major to be held on Labour Day in march. (See the full AMOK 2020 event report).
