Standardised Event Report:

‘Greek Devours Santa’s Decanter

December 30th 2020: Well, the final nnomads Golf Club major event for 2020, the Santa Decanter, was played at Yarrambat Park in conditions that could only be described as another Yarrambat kind of day.

Being the final event for the year, a solid cross section of the nnomads Golf Club membership base turned out, creating only what could be described as a [insert preferred adjective] field.

Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive field, 2) Top class field, 3) Sensational field, 4) Magnificent field and 5) Awe-inspiring:

First onto the tee in Group 1 were The Cardinal, Cinders and Rubber Man closely followed by The Bloke, Slugger and Nurse Min in the 2nd group, with Stavros the Greek, Markus Octavious and Freddie Five Iron in the final group. With such a highly skilled field like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition (see 2020 Player Groups).

Quality on course: And that is exactly how it turned out with a truly a [insert preferred adjective] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples of such expertise included The Bloke’s [Insert preferred adjective] NTP on the 8th, and his [insert preferred adjective] Longest drive on the 15th, Cinders’ [insert preferred adjective] Longest drive on the 9th, The Cardinal’s [Insert preferred adjective] NTP on the 5th, and Slugger’s [Insert preferred adjective] NTP on the 16th It is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see On Course in 2020).

Stavros devours Santa’s Decanter: But there was one player who stood out from the rest and that was Stavros the Greek (94,23,73), who ended up one stroke over the card, and five strokes in front of 2nd place getter Slugger (101,23,78), with Markus Octavious (115,34,81), a couple of strokes further back in 3rd place (see detailed results below).

Spectacular presentations: This meant the presentations back in the carpark were a [insert preferred adjective] celebration of Stavros the Greek’s [insert preferred adjective] performance (see Photos of 2020 presentations). “The secret to my win was …” started out the newly crowned champion as the on-course media clambered for an interview (see 2020 SD winner’s Speech).

The Club committee congratulates Stavros on his [insert preferred adjective] win and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also announces that the 2020 club champion is Stavros the Greek who displaced The Bloke after this event. This also means that members need to prepare for the 1st major event in 2020, the Australian Masters Open Kup (AMOK), to be run at the Growling Frog on Australia day in late January, at which the new champion will be formally presented with his trophy. So book early and see you there.
