Nurse Min) 6th November 2012 Yarra Bend |
Event Report: ‘No Moon on Green as Nurse Takes Cup Tuesday 6th November 2012: Well it was a big disappointment for the early arrivals who
were expecting Café De-Steph to be
in full operation in the Yarra Bend car park at 6.00am or so. The excuse was
that The Bloke had brought the
wrong gas fittings or at least something feeble like that. “Yeah well I just think the big fella was
late getting out of bed and couldn’t organise it in time. It’s not the best
time of day for him is it?” observed a desperately disappointed Cinders yearning for a strong cup of
coffee. (Note: A complaint was received from the
proprietor of Café-de-Steph about
this introduction and the first line in the following paragraph. As a result,
an apology was later issued by the nnomads GC disciplinary
committee – see apology
to The Bloke).
Perfection on course: The weather proved pleasant
and the course conditions just right, providing the perfect conditions for a
hard fought competition. After all, the MCC is one of the most sought after
trophies any nnomad aspires to have on their
mantelpiece. “Or in the cupboard
because I can’t fit any more trophies on the mantel piece” admitted
multiple MCC past champion Bull
just prior to the presentations. And, that is how it was, a hard fought
competition with some sensational golf throughout the round and anyone’s game
right up to the last green (see On
course in 2012). No Moon on Green as
Nurse Take out Cup: The big question on
everybody’s lips was whether there would be another play off as was commonly
the case in previous years. “As sure as
the moon goes down and the sun rises we have a clear and outright winner”
announced event sponsors Pup and Bull as the results became available.
And to no body’s surprise except the winner, it was Nurse Min who was the victor on the day (100,27,73) taking the
event out by a single stroke from equal second place getters The Bloke (88,14,74) and The Cardinal (94,20,74). Nurse Min also took out a longest
drive as did Stavros. The NTPs went
to Timmo
and Thombei the Mist rounding out an impressive
winner list for 2012. And of course De-Bros
put on a spread to be believed for the presentations which even attracted
non-players like Curtis. “Well it was the dips Tony,
I just couldn’t stay away from those dips” admitted Curtis when asked what he was doing there. “Well, never before have I won such a prestigious event” began Nurse Min with a winner’s speech that
went on well into the afternoon. But nobody minded because he was a worthy
winner and an example to us all (see MCC 2102 Presentations and 2012 MCC Champion acceptance
speech). The Club committee congratulates Nurse Min on a sensational performance and of course all prize winners on the day. The committee also
thanks event sponsors ‘De Bros Inc.’
for putting on yet another fabulous event in the longest running competition
on the nnomads Golf Club calendar. “But De Bros have got to get onto the
breakfast catering staff because they were just not up to standard”
mussed The Cardinal later but
that’s another story. |
