Standardised Event Report: ‘TJ Runs AMOK Again’ |
|
|
January 26th 2026: Once
again, the first major nnomads Golf Club event for the year was the
Australian Masters Open Kup (AMOK), run as always at the Growling Frog, in
perfect albeit warmish conditions for golf. |
|
|
Being the
first major event for the year, a solid cross section of nnomads Golf Club
membership turned out, creating only what could be described as a [insert preferred adjective] field. Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3)
Sensational, 4) Magnificent or 5) Awe-inspiring: First onto the
tee in Group 1 were The Bloke, Curtis,
TJ, and The Hanging Judge, closely followed by Group 2 including Nurse
Min, The Maroon Breasted Warbler and Circuit Board, and finally Group 3
with Freddie Five Iron, Markus Octavios and Stavros the Greek. With
such a highly skilled field, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition
(see 2026 Player Groups). |
|
|
Quality golf on course: And that is exactly how it turned out with a truly [Insert preferred adjective] display of
how to play competition golf. Perfect examples included TJ’s two [Insert preferred adjective] NTPs on the
5th and 16th holes, Stavros
the Greek’s [Insert preferred adjective] longest drive on the 8th and The Bloke’s [Insert preferred adjective] longest
drive on the 15th. It is fair to say the adoring gallery again got
their money’s worth (see On Course in 2026). |
|
|
TJ runs AMOK again: Now those that follow the history of this famous
event would know that TJ has won the event numerous times. Hence, he
was a strong favourite and didn’t disappoint. In fact, TJ (39
Stableford points) won the event easily beating The Bloke (35 Stableford points) by four points with The Maroon
Breasted Warbler (33 points) two points back in 3rd place (see detailed results below). Brilliant presentations: This meant the presentations in the carpark were a [Insert preferred adjective] again a
celebration of TJ’s [Insert preferred adjective] performance
on the day, (See Photos of 2026 presentations). “It was a good day. I played a rubbish front 9 but ” started out TJ in his winner’s speech (see AMOK
2026 Winners Speech). It should be
noted that due some scoring mistakes (no names, no pack drill), Nurse Min
was mistakenly awarded 2nd prize which should have been The
Bloke. And Circuit Board and The Bloke were awarded equal 3rd
prize which should have been the Maroon Breasted Warbler. The final
results have been adjusted accordingly. From Maximum to Stableford scoring: It should also be noted that after the event a snap members
meeting was called at which a quorum was established, and a majority of
members present voted to change the scoring system for major events and the
Club Championship from Maximum to Stableford (see details of the decision in ‘Around the Traps’).
Hence, this event used the Stableford scoring system. |

The Club
committee congratulates TJ on his [Insert preferred adjective] win and indeed
all other winners on the day. The committee reminds members to book early for
the next major event, the first Triggered Major for 2026 to be run on
Labor Day in March. See you there. |

This month’s competition: What
didn’t the 2025 Club Champion do that we thought he did?
