Standardised Event Report: ‘Mild’s Marauders have TITs’ |

August 5th
and 6th 2024: So, the second running of the Tanawha Invitational Tournament Sunshine
Coast (The TITs) was another runaway success, building on the outstanding
success of the inaugural TITs event run last year. Again, it was a team
Ambrose event run over two days, and this year both days were at the
beautiful Headland Golf Club located in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. Of
note, was the expanded field in 2024, in which there were eleven players in
three teams competing for the now much sort after TITs trophy. |

The first of
those teams with a handicap of 12.38 strokes was Mild’s Marauders
containing Mild Colonial Boy, Gorgi, Bobby Boy and Stavros the Greek. The
second team with a handicap of 10.25 strokes was North and South
containing The Bloke, Tee Vee, Westerly Wind and AirCon
One. And the final team with a handicap of 11.3 strokes was The
Dream Team containing AirCon 2, Legs
11 and The Dream. It is fair to say it was an eclectic mix of
personalities and skills ensuring this year’s event would be one to remember
(see TIT 2024 Player Groups). |

A memorable Day 1: And so it was, memorable that is.
Because at the end of round 1 on Day 1 there was around a single stroke, give
or take between the three groups with Mild’s Marauders (75, 12.38,
60.63), just in front of The Dream Team (73, 11.33, 61.67), with Team
North and South 0.08 of a stroke further back (72, 10.25, 61.75). Hence,
the post round clubhouse drinks and later a BBQ back at Mild’s place,
involved a lot of verbal A hard-fought Day 2: The final
round on Day 2 was back at Headland Golf Club with all teams champing at the
bit to get onto the course. As with last year, it was close all day with a
few reported ups and downs, and some exaggerations as the teams battled it
out for the coveted 2024 TITs trophy. And at the end
of a hard-fought day, it was Team North and South (72,10.25, 61.75)
who won the second day, beating Mild’s Marauders (75,12.38,62.63) by
0.88 of a stroke, with The Dream Team (74, 11.33, 62.67) a further
0.04 of a stroke behind. This meant there was 0.92 strokes between the top
and bottom team on day 2. Mild’s Marauders have TITs: But of
course, this was a two-round competition in which the final scores were based
on results from both days. And based on the combined results it was Mild’s
Marauders (Nett 123.25 strokes) who won the day, edging out Team North
and South (Nett 123.50 strokes) by 0.25 strokes, with The Dream Team
(Nett 124.33 strokes) a further 0.83 of a stroke behind. The closeness of the
competition was illustrated by the 1.08 strokes between the top and bottom
teams over the two days (see detailed results below). |

Celebrations and
presentations: As you would expect, the
presentations back at Mild’s place were a celebration of Mild’s
Marauders sensational performance with much cheering from the gallery as AirCon Two presented the Mild’s
Marauders Team with the TIT trophy for 2024. “It was another great
event, and I was happy to Captain the winning team in 2024….” started out
Mild as the trophy was handed to his team. But someone turned up the
music at this point making it difficult to hear his final words (see Photos
2023 presentations). |

The Club
committee congratulates Mild’s Marauders on their brilliant win and
indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also reminds members that
