2024: As always,
the ‘Blessed are the Big Nose’ Cup was run on Good Friday at the Growling
Frog amongst hails of ‘Blessed are the cheese makers’ and ‘Blessed are the Big Noses’ as is the tradition on Good Friday. (see Life of Brian – Blessed
are the Big Nose scene video as a reminder). |

The weather was predicted to be variable which once again prompted a
few wimps to pull out of the event (no names, no pack drill). But that is not
how it turned out, and a great day was had by some of
the cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base,
creating only what could be described as a [insert
preferred adjective] field. Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3)
Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5) Awe-inspiring: This year’s Group 1 contained The Bloke, Billy Bob Thornton, Circuit
Board and Markus Octavious, while Group 2 included Stavros the
Greek, Pup, TJ and Freddie Five Iron. With such a highly skilled field,
it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred
adjective] competition (see 2024 Player Groups). |

Pure excellence on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] display of how to play competition golf. Standout
performances included The Bloke’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] Longest drive on the 8th hole, and his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] NTP on the 16th hole. Then there was TJ’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] longest drive on the 15th hole which was indeed standout. It
is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s this year (see On
Course in 2024). |

Circuit Board has a big
nose: But at the end of the day, it was Circuit Board (106,36,70) who played
stunningly well, shooting 2 strokes under the card, beating 2nd
place getter Billy Bob Thornton (102,27,75),
by five strokes, with The Bloke (96,15,81) another 6 strokes behind in
3rd place. Of note was the fact that Circuit Board had a ‘bandit’
handicap of 36 to assist him which is likely to drop sharply after this
performance. Circuit Board focused presentations: So, as you would expect, the presentations in the car park
were clearly a celebration of Circuit Board’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] performance, which was his first win since joining the nnomads Golf Club. “I want to thank my trainer …”
started out this year’s champion as the trophy was presented in front of the
adoring gallery (see the BBNC 2024 presentation photos and winners’ speech). |

The Club committee congratulates Circuit Board and indeed all other winners on the day. The
committee reminds members that the next major event in 2024 is the ‘ANZAC Day’ medal, to be run at the
Growling Frog on ANZAC day. So, book
early and see you there. |
