Standardised Event Report:

‘Nurse Min acquires Santa’s Decanter in Style’

December 30th 2023: So, the final nnomads Golf Club major event for 2023, the Santa Decanter, was played at Yarrambat Park in variable weather conditions ranging from wind and rain to less wind and rain.

Being the final event for the year, a solid cross section of the nnomads Golf Club membership base turned out, creating only what could be described as a [insert preferred adjective] field.

Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive field, 2) Top class field, 3) Sensational field, 4) Magnificent field and 5) Awe-inspiring:

First onto the tee in Group 1 were Nurse Min, Thombei the Mist, Slugger Fairweather, and Cinders, closely followed by Stavros the Greek, TJ, Freddie Five Iron and Markus Octavious. With such a highly skilled field like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition (see 2023 Player Groups).

Sheer quality on course: And that is exactly how it turned out with a truly a [insert preferred adjective] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples included TJ’s [insert preferred adjective] NTP on the 8th and his [insert preferred adjective] longest drive on the 15th, not to mention Stavros the Greek’s [Insert preferred adjective] LD on the 9th, and Cinders [Insert preferred adjective] NTP on the 12th. It is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see On Course in 2023).

Nurse Min does it in style: But there was one player who stood out from the rest and that was Nurse Min (97,28,69) who ended up 3 strokes under the card, and 4 strokes in front of 2nd place getter TJ (93,20.73), with 3rd placegetter Cinders (112,36,76) a further 3 strokes behind (see detailed results below).

Sensational presentations: This meant the presentations back in the carpark were a [insert preferred adjective] celebration of Nurse Min’s [insert preferred adjective] performance. That is after Stavros the Greek incorrectly announced TJ as the winner, and announced incorrect placegetters, before discovering his mistake, backtracking quickly, and finally acknowledging the rightful winner Nurse Min and the correct placegetters (see Photos of 2023 presentations). “I want to thank my mum and dad …” started out and finished the newly crowned champion as the on-course media clambered for an interview (see 2023 SD winner’s Speech).

The Club committee congratulates Nurse Min on his [insert preferred adjective] win and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also announces that the 2023 club champion is Stavros the Greek who edged out TJ by 0.25 of a stroke. This also means that members need to prepare for the 1st major event in 2024, the Australian Masters Open Kup (AMOK), to be run at the Growling Frog on Australia day in late January, at which the new champion will be formally presented with his trophy. So, book early and see you there.
