TJ 25th April 2023 The Growling Frog |
Standardised Event Report: ‘TJ Triumphs in the Trenches |
|
April 25th 2023 - Lest we forget: Once again, this year’s running of the ANZAC Day
medal was run at the Growling Frog golf course where the conditions were again
near perfect and the course in fairly good
condition. |
|
Eight club
members turned out to remember, representing a solid cross section of the
cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base,
creating only what could be described as a [insert
preferred adjective] field. Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3)
Sensational, 4) Magnificent or 5) Awe-inspiring: First onto the
tee in Group 1 were The Bloke, Billy
Bob Thornton, Circuit Board and Markus Octavious,
closely followed by Group 2 including Stavros the Greek, Curtis, TJ,
and Slugger Fairweather. With
such a highly skilled field like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition
(see 2023 Player Groups). |
|
Tough battle in the
trenches: And that is exactly how it
turned out with a truly a [Rotate from list of preferred
adjectives] display of how to play competition golf.
Perfect examples included The Slugger
Fairweather’s [Rotate from list of preferred
adjectives] NTPs on the 5th, his [Rotate from list of preferred
adjectives] NTP on the 16th and his Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] Longest Drive on the 15th. Finally, there was Stavros the
Greek’s [Rotate from list of preferred
adjectives] NTP on the 12th. It is fair to
say that the adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see coverage
of On Course at the ADM in 2023). |
|
TJ Triumphs in the
trenches: But
at the end of the day, there were two players left standing
including Curtis (94,16,78), and TJ (101, 23,78) in equal first
place. This of course meant a play-off was required to produce a winner, or
at least a chip-off. So, a traditional single shot chip, closest to the
bucket ensued in which TJ prevailed over Curtis in front of the
adoring gallery (see ADM play-off 2023). Of note was The Bloke (94,
14, 80) who came in outright third place, two strokes behind. Remembered at the
presentations: This meant the presentations
were a celebration of TJ’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] performance during which last year’s champion The Bloke
presented TJ with the ADM pin and ADM trophy in front of an adoring gallery
and player group. “There was a lot of
competition out there today…. ” started out TJ in his acceptance speech (see 2023
ADM champion’s presentation and winners speech). |
|
The Club
committee congratulates TJ on his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] win and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee
also reminds members that the next major event in 2023 is the Monarch of the
Tulum to be run sometime in May (unless a triggered major occurs beforehand).
So, watch out for an announcement with
details of that event. |
