Santa Decanter (SD), December 2022 Date:
30/12/2022 |
|
Curtis Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Curtis Comes Home Strong’
Well, the final major event for the year, The Santa Decanter, was once
again run at Yarra Bend on a pleasant and sunny day in late December. The
course was in great condition setting up the perfect environment for 10
quality contenders to participate in a great competition golf. In short, Curtis
(84,14,70) edged out equal 2nd place getters Thombei
the Mist (91,20,71) and Stavros the Greek (92,21,71) by one stroke
in a superb equal with the card masterclass performance. This meant Curtis took the major Bladder points (see - Final 2022
Bladder),
while The Bloke remains in top spot on the club championship leader
board with 24 hours to go in 2022. This means The Bloke is an almost certain
winner of the club championship in 2022 unless a triggered major is run on
the last day of the year (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates Curtis
on another brilliant performance and indeed all winners on the day. The
Committee also reminds members to book early for the next major event being
the Victorian Open Masters Invitational Tournament (VOMIT) to be run on
Australia Day January 2023. (See full SD event report).

Melbourne Cup Cup (MCC), November
2022 Date:
1/11/2022 |
|
Curtis Winner on Callaway handicap |
‘Curtis takes yet another
Cup Cup’ So, the much-anticipated return of the Melbourne Cup Cup finally occurred on the 1st Tuesday in
November at its traditional home, Yarra Bend. Of note was the fact that the
course has returned to its original configuration albeit without the original
1st hole and some minor tweaking of the remaining first 9 holes. Ten high quality contenders stepped onto the 1st
tee to compete for the take home MCC trophy which of course meant the
competition was going to be fierce. But at the end
of the day Curtis (89,17,72) edged out The Bloke (87,13,74) by
two strokes with Nurse Min and Billy Bob Thornton coming in
equal third place. This meant Curtis took the major Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), while The Bloke remains in
top spot on the club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates Curtis
on a brilliant win and indeed all winners on the day. The Committee also
reminds members to book early for the next major event being the Santa
Decanter in December, assuming a triggered major isn’t slipped into the
calendar. (See Full
MCC event report). |

Balnarring Invitational Tournament (BIT), October 2022 Date:
15/10/2022 |
|
Thombei the Mist Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Misty Prevails’ Well, the main event of the weekend was the Balnarring Invitational
Tournament, run at Flinders Golf Club, in
reasonably good conditions after weeks of rain. Fourteen competitors stepped onto the 12th, 13th,
and 14th tees in a shotgun start which proved to be very close and
hotly contested, or at least that what it seemed to be on the day. As an
aside, the 15th Player was supposed to be King Billy who
travelled from interstate only to trip on the carpet at Chez Min’s and
do his back in prior to any golf being played, but that is another story. The results at
the end of the day showed there was a clear winner being Thombei
the Mist (94,24,70) with three players coming in equal 2nd
place being the Maroon Breasted Warbler (105,29,76), Curtis (90,14,
76) and Mild Colonial Boy (89,13,76) all with net 76 strokes. This meant Thombei took the
major Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), while The Bloke remains in
top spot on the club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates Thombei on a
brilliant win and indeed all winners on the day. The committee also
acknowledges Curtis efforts who thought he had won after a play-off
but didn’t (Bad luck Curtis). The Committee also reminds members to book early for the next major
event being the Melbourne Cup Cup, to be run on 1st
Tuesday in November. (See Full BIT and TSCC
event report). |

Tulum Sands Callaway Classic (TSCC), October 2022 Date:
15/10/2022 |
|
Thombei the Mist Winner on nnomads GC Callaway
handicap |
‘Thombei
sweeps clean’ ’ The score cards for the main BIT event were also used to calculate a
Callaway outcome traditionally known as the Tulum Sands Callaway Classic. And once
again, Thombei the Mist (94,25,69)
won the event by 2 strokes from 2nd placegetter the Maroon
Breasted Warbler (105,34,71) with Curtis (90,17,73), coming in 3rd
place, a further stroke behind. This meant Thombei The Mist had
a clean sweep on the day winning both the BIT and TSCC, a feat that few
people have achieved. This also meant Thombei took the major
Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), while the event had no impact on
the club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates Thombei the Mist on
a sensational albeit controversial win and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee also acknowledges the Maroon Breasted Warbler efforts who
thought he had won the event but didn’t (Bad luck MBW). (See Full BIT and TSCC
event report). |

BIT Ambrose Teams Event, October 2022 Date:
14/10/2022 |
|
Pup, Stavros, and Clean Phil Teams Winner on nnomads
GC Ambrose handicap |
‘Clean, Dogs and Greeks
win the day’ So, the warm up event for the BIT 2022 was a team Ambrose event run at
the Rosebud Country Club on the North course which was in great condition
considering the weeks of rain preceding the event. There were 10 players in the event broken up into three groups
based on calculating a team nnomads GC handicap of
14 strokes. While the
outcome was close, Group 3 made up of Pup, Stavros the Greek and
Clean Phil, came out on top with a net 66 strokes, followed by Group 2 – Mild
Colonial Boy, Markus Octavious and Bobbie
Boy, net 69 strokes, and Group 1 – Nurse Min, Maroon Breasted Warbler
and Clive Palmer with net 73 strokes. The committee congratulates Group
3 on a memorable win and indeed all winners on the day. The vent was the
perfect warm up for those who were able to get there (see BIT Event report
for further details). |

Swan Island nnomads Cup, August 2022 Date:
28/08/2022 |
|
Surfer Boy Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Surfer Boy Drops in Again ‘Well, the 4th nnomads
Golf Club major event for 2022, was
the Swan Island nnomads Cup (SINC), run as usual at
Queenscliff Golf Club, in fantastic conditions (after the fog lifted).
This year eight competitors stepped onto the tee after two wimps withdrew at
the last minute, as usual with very questionable excuses. Of note was
the fact that Surfer Boy dropped in again, and of particular note was
that Surfer Boy (104,36,68) easily won the event by 9 strokes from 2nd
placegetter The Bloke (96,19,77), with Stavros the Greek (104,25,79)
and Markus Octavious (115,36,79) coming in
equal 3rd place. This meant Surfer Boy took the major Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), while The Bloke remains in
top spot on the club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates Surfer
Boy on another sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee reminds members to book early for the next major event being the The BIT), to be run on the Mornington Peninsular in
October. (See Full

Victorian
Open Masters Invitational Tournament,
June 2022 Date:
12/06/2022 |
|
The Bloke Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘The Bloke VOMITs’ So, the 3rd nnomads
Golf Club major event for 2022, was the
Victorian Open Masters Invitational Tournament, again run at the
Growling Frog, in horrendous cold and rainy conditions. And again, eight vaccinated and unvaccinated competitors stepped onto the tee to contest the event, which
excluded a couple of wimps who bailed out at the last minute with
questionable excuses. And again, The
Bloke (95,18,77) easily won by 6 strokes from 2nd placegetter The
Cardinal (108,25,83), with TJ (107,23,84) a stroke behind. This meant The Bloke again took the major Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), and remains in top spot on the
club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates The
Bloke on another sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee reminds members to book early for the next major event being the
Swan Island nnomads Cup (SINC), to be run on the
Bellarine Peninsular in August. (See Full VOMIT event

‘ANZAC Day Medal, April 2022 Date:
25/4/2022 |
|
The Bloke Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Lest we forget The Bloke’ Well, the 2nd nnomads
Golf Club major event for 2022, was
the ‘ANZAC Day Medal run at the
Growling Frog, and this time there were 8 competitors who stepped onto the tee to contest the event (including vaccinated and
unvaccinated members). But it was
hard to forget the sensational performance of The Bloke (85,18,67) who again won
by 1 stroke from 2nd placegetter Stavros the Greek
(93,25,68), with Curtis (93,16,77) a few strokes behind. This meant The Bloke again took the major Bladder points (see - Year to date Bladder), and remains in top spot on the
club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates The
Bloke on another sensational win and indeed all winners on the day. The
committee reminds members to book early for the next major event being the
Victorian Open Masters Invitational Tournament (VOMIT), to be run on the
Bellarine Peninsular in June. (See Full ADM event report) |

‘Blessed are the Big Nose’ Cup, April 2022 Date: 16/4/2022 |
|
The Bloke Winner on nnomads GC handicap |
‘Bloke is good on Friday’ So, the first nnomads Golf Club major event
for 2022, was the ‘Blessed are the Big Nose’ Cup run at Yarra Bend on Good
Friday using the new course format. Originally there were 8 double vaccinated
competitors booked into play. However, after a COVID intervention and an own
goal from Pup, an elite group of six members ended stepping onto the tee to
contest the event. It has to be
said there was some good golf played on the day. Within that context, The
Bloke (88,17,71) was a standout, winning by 1 stroke from 2nd
placegetter Stavros the Greek (95,23,72), with The Cardinal (103,24,79)
a few strokes behind. Note: The Cardinal made a mistake when adding up
the card which resulted in Slugger being awarded 3rd place
at the presentations, including the prize ball, instead of The Cardinal.
This meant The Bloke took the major Bladder points (see - Year to
date Bladder),
and moved into top spot on the club championship leader board (see YTD
2022 championship results). The committee congratulates The Bloke on a sensational win and indeed all winners on the
day. The committee reminds members to book early for the next major event of
2022, the ‘ANZAC Day Medal to
be run later in April. (See Full BBNC event report) |
