Standardised Event Report:

‘Bloke nails it to the cross’

March 2nd 2021: After a break in 2020 due to the COVID19 lockdown, the annual running of the Blessed are the Big Nose Cup on Good Friday was up and going again, this year run at Yarrambat on a pleasant autumn day, in near perfect conditions.

As expected, a solid cross section from the cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base turned out to compete, creating only what could be described as a [insert preferred adjective] field.

Preferred adjective alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3) Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5) Awe-inspiring:

This year’s Group 1 contained The Cardinal, Slugger, and Billy Bob Thornton, Group 2 contained TJ, Pup, Cinders and Freddie Five Iron while Group 3 contained The Bloke, Markus Octavious and Thombei the Mist. With such a highly skilled field, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred adjective] competition (see 2021 Player Groups).

Quality on course: And that is exactly how it turned out with a truly [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] display of how to play competition golf. Standout performances included The Bloke’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] NTP on the 8th hole, his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] longest drive on the 9rd hole, and his [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] longest drive on the 13th hole. The only other highlight on the day was Billy Bob Thornton’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] NTP on the 16th hole. That said, it is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see limited coverage of On Course in 2020).

Bloke nails it to the cross: At the end of that Good Friday competition, The Bloke (88,17,71) absolutely nailed it, shooting 1 stroke under the card, and four strokes under 2nd place getter Billy Bob Thornton (98,23,75), with Pup (94,18,76) a further stroke behind. Combined with his two longest drives and one NTP, The Bloke had clearly resurrected his best form.

Cardinal led presentations: So, as you would expect, the presentations in the Yarrambat car park were clearly a celebration of The Bloke’s [Rotate from list of preferred adjectives] performance with The Cardinal appropriately stepping in as master of ceremony. “I am just glad to be back in form after some time in the wilderness” started out this year’s champion as the trophy was presented by The Cardinal in front of the adoring gallery (see the BBNC 2021 presentation photos).

The Club committee congratulates The Bloke and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also reminds members that the next major event in 2021 is the ‘ANZAC Day’ medal, to be run at the Growling Frog on ANZAC day. So book early and see you there.
