Thombei The Mist 23rd July 2017 RACV Club Healesville |
Standardised Event Report: ‘Members Mystified in Healesville’ |
|
July 23rd 2017: Once again
it was a surprise to find eight players turning up for a
not-so-weekly-competition, which according to nnomads Golf Club rules,
automatically becomes a Triggered Major. This was the third Triggered Major
in 2017 and once again it was played at the RACV club in Healesville on
another beautiful mid-winters Sunday. |
|
And once again, there were two groups on course creating what could
only be described as a [insert preferred headline] field. Preferred headline alternatives – 1) Impressive,
2) Top class, 3) Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5) Awe-inspiring. First onto the
tee in Group 1 were Stavros the Greek,
Thombei The Mist, Slugger and
Freddie Five Iron closely followed by Club Champion Pup, Curtis, Rubber Man and
The Bloke in Group 2. With such a highly skilled and competitive field
like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred
headline] competition (see TM3 2017 Player Groups). |
|
Very competitive on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly a [Rotate alternative headlines] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples
of such expertise included Club Champion Sluggers
[Rotate alternative headlines] longest
drive on the 8th hole, The
Bloke’s [Rotate alternative headlines] longest drive on the 15th hole, Stavros the Greek’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the 2nd
hole, Thombei’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the 4th
hole, Freddie Five Iron’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the
10th hole, Curtis’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the
13th hole, and The Blokes
[Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the
16th hole. It is fair to say that the gallery once again got their
money’s worth (see On Course at TM3 2017). |
|
Members were not really
mystified: It is fair to say Thombei The Mist has been playing
pretty well of late and it is also fair to say no one was surprised when Thombei (96,23,73) came out on top
beating Slugger (99,24,75) by two
strokes, with Pup (94, 18,76) a
further stroke back in third place. And the fact that Thombei only had to drive 5 minutes to his local course while
everyone else had a relatively long drive was not thought to influence the
result all that much, or at least Thombei
didn’t think so. Riotous presentations: Again, being
at the RACV club, it meant the presentations were a very prim and proper
affair celebrating Thombei The Mist’s
truly [Rotate alternative headlines] performance (see Photos of TM3 2017 presentations). “I can only say it’s a magnificent day in
Healesville…..” started out the new champion after accepting an imaginary
Triggered Major trophy (see 2017 TM3 presentations and Winner Speech). |

The Club
committee congratulates Thombei The
Mist on his [Rotate first words from list of preferred
headlines] win and
indeed all other winners on the day. The committee also reminds members that
the next major event in 2017 will be Melbourne Cup Cup in November. So book early
and see you there (unless another Triggered Major makes its way onto the
major event schedule). |
