Nurse Min 7th November 2017 Yarra Bend |
Standardised Event Report: ‘Nurse takes it out twice in a decade’ |
|
November 7th
2017: So, it
was raining lightly as the coffee and croissants started to flow at
Café-de-Steph, in the carpark at Yarra Bend golf course, the traditional
starting point for the annual running of the Melbourne Cup Cup. The course
was in superb condition while the weather was questionable albeit perfectly
suitable for golf, being an all-weather game. |
|
Hence, the scene was set for another great day of competition between
the 11 members invited to contest this prestigious event. In fact, it was the
cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base, who teed-off into a glorious morning as what
could only be described as a [insert preferred
headline] field. Preferred headline alternatives – 1)
Impressive, 2) Top class, 3) Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5)
Awe-inspiring. First onto the
tee in Group 1 were event co-sponsor
Pup, Cinders, Freddie Five Iron and
The Bloke, closely followed by The
Cardinal, Co-event sponsor Rubber
Man and Slugger in Group 2,
with Thombei the Mist, Billy Bob Thornton, Nurse
Min and Stavros the Greek in the final group. With such a highly skilled and
competitive field like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred headline] competition
(see 2017 Player Groups). |
|
Standout quality on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly a [Rotate alternative headlines] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples
of such expertise included Pup’s [Rotate alternative headlines] longest
drive on the 6th and his [Rotate alternative
headlines] NTP on the 8th hole, The Bloke’s NTP on the 4th
hole, Billy Bob’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the
16h, Rubber Man’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTP on the
10th. It is fair to say that the adoring gallery got their money’s
worth that day (see On Course in 2017). |

Nurse Min returns to the
winner’s podium: But there was one player who
stood out from the rest and that was Nurse
Min (102,28,74), who ended up in
front by a single stroke from a gaggle of player in equal 2nd
including Billy Bob Thornton, The
Cardinal, Thombei the Mist and The Bloke. And as usual, most
of the remaining field were within five strokes of each other, the nature of
Callaway competition (see detailed
results below). Of particular note was the fact that Nurse Min won the event in 2011 making
this the 2nd time he was on top of the podium in this aspirational
event. Huge presentations: This meant
the presentations back in the carpark were a [Rotate
alternative headlines] celebration of Nurse Min’s [Rotate alternative headlines] performance
(see Photos of 2017 presentations). ‘Well
I am surprised really …” started out Nurse
Min as he faced the media pack clambering for a comment from the
returning champion (see 2017 Champion Winner Speech). |
|
The Club
committee congratulates Nurse Min on
his [Rotate alternative headlines] return to
the MCC winners podium and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee
also reminds members to book early for the next major nnomads Golf Club event
– The 2nd Triggered Major in early December. So see you there. |
