Standardised Event Report: ‘Club Champion Runs AMOK’ |
|
January 26th 2017: Well you
couldn’t criticize the course or the conditions because it was a perfect day
for golf and indeed perfect for the annual running of the Australian Masters
Open Kup. |
|
Being the
first major event for the year, a solid cross section from the cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base turned out, creating
only what could be described as a [insert preferred
headline] field. Preferred headline alternatives – 1) Impressive, 2) Top class, 3)
Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5) Awe-inspiring: First onto the
tee in Group 1 were Slugger, Rubber Man
and The Cardinal, closely
followed by Billy Bob Thornton, Freddie
Five Iron and Club Champion Pup in
the 2nd group with The Bloke, The
Hanging Judge, Markus Octavious and Stavros the Greek in the final group.
With such a highly skilled field like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred headline] competition
(see 2017 Player Groups). |
|
Tight competition on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly a [Rotate from list of preferred headlines] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples
of such expertise included Rubber Man’s [Rotate from list
of preferred headlines] NTPs on the 2nd, Freddie Five Iron’s [Rotate from list of preferred headlines] NTP on the 12th hole, Markus Octavious’s [Rotate from list of preferred headlines] NTP on the 12th, Stavros The Greek’s [Rotate from list
of preferred headlines] Longest Drive on the 8th,
and Pup’s [Rotate from list of preferred headlines] Longest Drive on the 15th. It is fair to say that
the adoring gallery once again got their money’s worth that day (see On
Course in 2017). |
|
Unimpressive play-off: But as is often the case, at the end of regular play there
were two competitors tied in first play being Club Champion Pup (94,19,75) and Freddie Five Iron (111,36,75) who were
both three over the card. And as usual this meant a chip-off was required in
the carpark to determine the eventual winner. So The Cardinal set up an empty beer bottle 80 meters or so from a
line drawn in the sand and each player took a turn at the single shot closes
to the bottle shoot out. Unfortunately, the build-up was more exciting than
the actual chip off in which both players duffed their shots with neither
getting anywhere near the bottle. Club Champion Runs AMOK:
But there was a result and it was Pup who prevailed which was probably a fair outcome based on he
being the only player to break 100 strokes on the day and thus easily gaining
the best-off-the stick score on the day. This meant Freddie was the runner up with The Cardinal (100,24,76) one stroke behind them in 3rd
place (see detailed results below).
Back to the
presentations: This meant the presentations
resumed in the carpark which were a [Rotate from list
of preferred headlines] celebration of Pup’s [Rotate from
list of preferred headlines] performance on the day
(see Photos of 2017 presentations). And while no one could hear a word of
Pup’s winners speech, you got the idea that he was pretty happy and the
gallery thought he was a worthy winner (see AMOK 2017 Winners Speech). . |

The Club committee
congratulates Club Champion Pup on
his [Rotate from list of preferred headlines] win and indeed all other winners on the day. The committee
also observes that Pup is off to a
flying start in the 2017 club championship, meaning the challenge is on for
the rest of the nnomads GC members to get out there
and give him some real competition at the next major event - The Triggered
Major 1 to be run at Yarrambat in March. So,
book early and see you there. |
