The Bloke 11TH December 2016 Yarrambat Park GC |
Standardised Event Report: ‘Bloke Beats Greek to Comfy Chair |
|
December 11th 2016: So
the lack of a Shankshy Invitational Tournament
(SHIT), and the eagerness of members to have another major event in 2016,
created the perfect environment for the second Triggered Major for 2016,
which was run at Yarrambat Park on another Yarrambat sort of day. “It’s pretty poor form for Shanksy to move back to the US just to avoid having to
organise his annual golf tournament. We have got to do something …”
suggested Freddie Five Iron during
an emergency member teleconference a few weeks before the event. |
|
Hence, two groups of members were able to compete on short notice,
creating what could only be described as a [insert preferred headline] field. Preferred headline alternatives – 1)
Impressive, 2) Top class, 3) Sensational, 4) Magnificent and 5)
Awe-inspiring. First onto the
tee in Group 1 were Pup, reigning
champion the Bloke, Curtis and Slugger closely
followed by Stavros the Greek, Billy
Bob Thornton, Markus Octavious and Freddie Five
Iron in Group 2. With such a highly skilled and competitive field like
this, it was clearly going to be a [insert preferred
headline] competition (see 2016 Player Groups). |
|
Stiff competition on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out with
a truly a [Rotate alternative headlines] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples
of such expertise included Pups [Rotate alternative headlines] longest
drive on the 9th hole and Stavros
the Greek’s [Rotate alternative headlines] NTPs on the 5th hole, the 8th hole and
12th hole and Longest drive on the 15th. It is fair to
say that the massive gallery got their money’s worth once again (see On
Course in 2015). |
|
Bloke beats Stavros to
comfy chair: And as is the case in many nnomads Gold Club events, there was the need for a
playoff at the end of the hard-fought competition with The Bloke (91,18,73) and Stavros
the Greek (98,25,73) both coming in at one stroke over the card. And as
is the case in many nnomads Gold Club events, the
play-off occurred in the carpark, in this particular case involving a ‘closest-to-the-comfy-chair’ chipping
competition which really energised the gallery who had been waiting patiently
for the results to be announced. Well talk
about controversy, the playoff was sensational with both players losing their
balls. Finally, Slugger threw his
arms in the air and announced that The
Bloke was the winner. This was despite Stavros wanting to validate the result by measuring the distance between
player balls and the comfy chair, knowing quite well no-one was interested in
looking for balls at that stage of the day (see TM2 Play-off video). Rowdy presentations: This meant
the presentations were particularly rowdy but remained a [Rotate alternative headlines] celebration
of The Bloke’s [Rotate alternative headlines] performance
(see Photos of 2016 presentations). “Yeah
all good” stated The Bloke to
the media who totally missed the reigning champions speech because it was so
short (see 2016 TM2 Champion Winner Speech). |

The Club
committee congratulates The Bloke on
his [Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] win and indeed all other
winners on the day. The committee also reminds members that the final major
event in 2016 will be The Santa Decanter to be held on 27th of
December. So book early and see you there. |
