Standardised Event
Report: ‘Same Same Bloke Runs AMOK Again’ |
|
January 26th 2016: Well
the lack of controversy associated with the annual running of the Australian
Open Masters Kup at the Growling Frog on Australia
Day was controversial in itself. |
|
Being the
first event for 2016, a solid cross section from the cream of the nnomads Golf Club membership base turned out, creating
only what could be described as a [insert preferred headline]. Preferred headline alternatives – 1) Impressive field, 2) Top class field,
3) Sensational field, 4) Magnificent field and 5) Awe-inspiring Field: First onto
the tee in Group 1 were Rubber Man,
Nurse Min, The Cardinal and Billy
Bob Thornton, closely followed by The
Bloke, Pup and Slugger in Group
2 with Stavros the Greek, Markus Octavious and Freddie Five Iron rounding out the
field in the final group. With such a highly skilled and competitive field
like this, it was clearly going to be a [insert first word from
preferred headline] competition (see 2016 Player Groups). |
|
Pure quality on
course: And that is exactly how it turned out
with a truly a [Rotate first words from list
of preferred headlines] a display of how to play competition golf. Perfect examples
of such expertise included The Bloke’s
[Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] NTP
on the 2nd Pup’s [Rotate first words from
list of preferred headlines] NTP on the 12th hole, Slugger’s [Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] Longest Drives on the 8th
and Stavros the Greek’s [Rotate first words from
list of preferred headlines] Longest Drives on the 15th. It is fair to say that the
adoring gallery got their money’s worth that day (see On Course in 2016). |
|
Same Same after Play-off: However
there were three players who stood out from the rest and that was Pup (96,23,73), The Bloke (91,18,23) and Billy
Bob Thornton (102,29,73) who all ended up net 73 strokes and three
strokes in front of the next best players - Stavros the Greek and Slugger
(see detailed results below).
This meant a play-off was required to determine the winner, which took the
form of a single shot chip-off - closest to the sign at the end of the
Growling Frog carpark (see video of the play-off). Same Same presentations: This
meant the presentations back in the carpark were a [Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] celebration of The Blokes [Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] performance (see Photos of
2016 presentations) which in many
ways didn’t sufficiently recognise Pup’s
or Billy Bob’s performances –
but that’s the way of nnomads Golf Club play-offs.
Of more or less significance depending on your view, was the Deja vu nature
of it all. The Bloke also won last
year, wearing the same clothes, with the same score, with the same second
place getter Pup, also wearing the
same tee shirt. “Same, same, same. Has
either of them changed their clothes since last year?” asked a concerned
and hygiene aware Nurse Min. |

Presentations 2016 |
The Club
committee congratulates The Bloke on
his [Rotate first words from list of preferred headlines] win and indeed all other winners
on the day. The committee also reminds members that the next major event in
2016 will be a Triggered Major to
be held on Labour Day in March. So book
early and see you there. |
