Rubber Man 22nd September Yarrambat Park |
Event Report: ‘Rubber Man Reigns Supreme’ September 22nd 2014: So it was Curtis
who started it all off with his moaning about the inclusion of the Western
Australian Invitational Tournament (WAIT) as a nnomads
Golf Club sanctioned event and his threat to run a series of nnomads competitions that no one was invited to except a
select few. “Well that’s what the Mild
Colonial Boy did. I wasn’t invited to the WAIT. I read about it after the
fact.” In fact Curtis had even
come up with new event names such as the RORT before suddenly finding that eight
players were going to turn up for a weekly competition which automatically
made the outing a Triggered Major, the second for 2014. Quality field: As you would
expect, the cream of the nnomads GC crop turned out
including Rubber Man, The Bloke, Nurse Min and Pup in the first group, followed by Stavros the Greek, Markus Octavious and Curtis
in the second group. Unfortunately Freddie
Five Iron was a late cancelation and sorely missed – get well soon
Freddie (see TM 2 14
player groups). Another Yarrambat day: As readers may or may not know, Yarrambat has been a
no-go-zone for some months because of damage to a series of greens which made
the course unplayable. But players were delighted to find the course in
lovely condition which complimented the magnificent weather making it another
Yarrambat kind of day. Such conditions set up a perfect scenario for some
exceptional on course play which was exampled by Curtis’s sensational NTP on the 5th, Pup’s brilliant NTP on the 8th,
Rubber Man’s amazing longest drive
on the 9th, The Bloke’s
exceptional NTP on the 12th and Pup’s eye boggling longest drive on the 15th (see on course at the TM2). Rubber Man Reigns Supreme: But
the story of the day was Rubber Man
(92,23,69) who produced a three strokes under the
card performance and edged out a two strokes under the card performance by Nurse Min (105,35,70) by one stroke.
And both players were strokes in front of anyone else in the field
illustrating just how good these performances really were. Logically, this
meant universal and acclaimed recognition during the presentations in the car
park as previous Triggered Major champion Markus
Octavious passed on the fabulous trophy to Rubber Man. “Thanks for a beautiful day and thanks to the organisers ….”
started out Rubber Man in his
acceptance speech which incidentally was considered one of the better
speeches given so far in 2014 (see 2014 Triggered Major 2
Champions speech and TM 2 Presentations). The Club committee congratulates Rubber Man on a truly sensational performance and indeed all winners
on the day. The committee also notes that standings in the club championship
are getting tighter and tighter as we enter the business end of the 2014
competition season. This means that all nnomads GC
members need to be entering the remaining competitions, starting with the
Tulum Sands Callaway Classic (TCSC) and the Balnarring Invitational
Tournament (BIT) in two weeks’ time. So see you there! |
