Brendan ends year in style: It was a select foursome that teed off at Yarrambat 'White' for the last weekly competition before Christmas including Shanksy, Harry, Brendan and the Cardinal. The course was in exceptional condition and the weather near perfect making it another one of those Yarrambat days! Harry took and early lead before Brendan stamped his authority on the game. The Cardinal put up a fantastic fight in the second nine before capitulating on the last few holes. The clear winner at the end of the day was Brendan on 36 stableford points with Harry in second place on 33 points. Shanksy took
out the NTP with a sensational shot on the 16th that was almost a hole in
one. In all other ways it was a very pleasant day. ____________________________ |

Crowd at top of mediocre cup: Every once in a while a
special afternoon presents where the conditions are perfect and almost no one
is on the course. The competition between the lefties (Steve and Jack)
and the righties (Harry and Steph) was fierce with the lefties
getting out to a three hole lead before the righties pegged it back to
even before taking a one hole lead. Then the lefties came back to gain
a one hole lead before the righties got it back to even with one hole
to go. It came down to a final putt on the last green resulting in a tied
round (9 holes each). As for the Stabbleford competition, Harry,Jack
and Steph were equal first (28 points). ____________________________ |

Min slashes his handicap: Well
it was a big day at Yarrambat this last Sunday afternoon. After a
couple of wimps bailed out at the last minute reducing the field down to two
players, Min played a masterful round to end up on 37 stableford points. This
was a full 7 points in front of the next place getter Brendan (on 30 points)
and resulted in Min's handicap coming in by 0.5 of the stroke (from 32 to
31). "It the satisfaction of breaking your handicap. That's
what I came here to do and its sensational" yelled an elated Min as
he headed for his car. Brendan took out the NTP so clearly a great day was
had by all. "We teed off 20 minutes late, had a sprinkle on the 14th
and 15th and the rest of the day was perfect. Those wimps don't know what
they missed out on" reported Brenda when phoning in the scores.
The committee congratulates Min on his standout performance. ____________________________ |

Brendan takes out 'Mediocre Cup': For those that didn't hear about it, Brenden took out the most
recent mediocre cup, run at Yarrambat white' the weekend before last. Up
against a field of three (including himself) Brendan earned 30
stableford points tipping out Steph by one stroke to take the two balls on
offer. He also took out the only NTP on offer giving him a clean sweep on the
day. The committee congratulates Brendan on another fine performance, albeit
mediocre. ____________________________ |

'The Cardinal' shows how to use an iron: This week Fang completely wiped a field
of six players on a very long 'Yarrambat White’ using nothing but
irons. His score of 37 Stableford points was 7 points in front of the 2nd
place getter Tom (30 points), and the rest of the field dotted through the
twenties. It also brought his precise handicap in by 0.4 strokes but didn't
change his playing handicap. The Cardinal' also took out the NTP
on the 8th hole (and got a birdie to boot) while Tom took out the longest
drive on the 15th. "The secret was leaving the driver and other
woods in the back of his car" he confessed to the media after the
game. The club committee congratulates Fang on a truly brilliant
performance. |

Brendan walks a mile in Harry's shoes: The 'player of the week' this week is
Brendan who needs to be commended after walking 'Yarrambat White’ in
Harry's golf shoes (after mixing them up last week at the BIT). Up against a
field of three, Brendan (33 stableford points) just edged out 'the Cardinal'
(32 points), and Pets S (31 points). Brendan credited his win to Harry's golf
shoes (but does want his own back apparently). "I was inspired by
Harry's performance in the VOMIT last week so it was a privilege to wear
his golf shoes today. They certainly worked for me!" he commented to
the media after the presentations. The club committee congratulates Brendan
on a great comeback performance maintaining his place at the top of the 2009
Bladder. |

Brendan
blitzes the Bat: Once again, the player of the week is Brendan after his defining win on
'Yarrambat White’ last Saturday. Brendan blitzed the field with 38 stableford
points beating the next best player, Tom, by 5 points. Brendan also took out
three of four NTPs and the only longest drive, giving him seven balls in
prizes. Tom got a ball for 2nd and Steve got a ball for the other NTP.
Brendan's handicap came in 0.6 strokes and Tom maintained his. The rest of
the field went out 0.1 strokes. The club committee congratulates Brendan on
another impressive performance that further cements his place at the top of
the 2009 Bladder |

Doon
stops a running nose: Brendan was the last week’s player of the week after an
unlikely win on the last hole of ‘Yarrambat White’ where he just passed Mark
V to win by one Stableford point. “For me
to win, I need to get a birdie and you need to get a wipe on this last hole”
explained Brendan as the field of four stood on the 18th tee. And
that exactly what happened, which put Brendan into first place on 30
Stableford points, and Mark V into second place on 29 points. Mark’s
performance on the last hole attracted the normal remarks about ‘handicap
tanking’ which he strongly denied. He was somewhat compensated for his loss
with an extra ball for a sensational NTP on the 16th hole. The day
was deemed to be another ‘mediocre cup’ and all competitor handicaps went out
by 0.1 strokes. |

Big nose flares both nostrils: Mark V was last week’s player of the
week after his sensational and convincing win at ‘Yarrambat
White’ the previous Saturday. Up against a field of eight players, Mark shone
through to gain 35 stableford points, a full four strokes in front of second
place getter Emile on 31 points. Mark V also gained an NTP on the 8th hole while Tom won the other NTP, edging
out Fang on the 16th. Harry won the longest drive on the 10th
rounding out the prize winners for the day. There was some controversy mid
game when Mark V teed off the yellow markers instead of the white markers on
the 12th tee. As a result, a raucous tribunal was convened after
the game which decided to not penalise Mark because any penalty awarded
wouldn’t have made a difference anyway. As it was Mark V’s handicap remained
where it was while every other player handicap went out 0.1 strokes. The
committee congratulates Mark V on another exceptional performance and reminds
all nnomads that handicap ‘tanking’ prior to the spring major events season
will not be tolerated (if it can be detected). |

Shags
tames his shank: Shanksy is this week’s player of the week due to his very
convincing win last Saturday at ‘Yarrambat White’. After his recent post game
statement to the media in which he said
“I will never play golf again”, Shanksy blitzed the field of seven
players to gain 38 stableford points, a full 9 points in front of equal 2nd
place getters Brendan and Peter B (who only turns up for golf every two years
or so). Brendan took out the longest drive while no one was able to take out
the two NTPs on offer. Shanksy’s win was even more impressive when you
consider that the field included the nnomads Golf Club champion Ricko
(temporarily on loan from SA), and that Shanksy is the first person to break
his handicap on the ACR 73 rated ‘Yarrambat White’. In fact, his handicap
came in 0.6 strokes to bring it back to 16 strokes while the rest of the
field all went out 0.1 strokes. The committee congratulates Shanksy on this
impressive performance and notes he can no longer complain about his handicap
when he is able to break it like he did this week. |

Steph steps
doon: Steph was the previous weeks the player of the week after his
sensational win on ‘Yarrambat White’ up against a huge field of 2 players
(including himself). With a gross score and 94 strokes and net 77, Steph was
able to edge out Brendan (92,13,79) by two strokes to get the winner’s ball.
Both players went out 0.1 and a good day was had by all, or at least both of
them. The club congratulates Steph on this significant achievement. |
