So it
was a very revved up group of 11 competitors that faced off on the first tee.
Jack, Steph, Pete and Tom led the field away in the first group with Harry,
Emile, Brendan and Steve in the second group and event organiser Min, Fritz and
Gordon in the final group.
Challenging
Course In Great Conditions: The
Tom
Talked the Talk and Walked the Walk: Now Tom was sporting a
handicap of 25 strokes on the day and when combined with his very competitive 104
stroke gross score, he ended up 9 strokes over the card with a net 78. That was
enough to win him the event by two stokes from Gordon and Brendan in equal
second (net 80 Strokes) with Jack two strokes behind them (net 82). The rest of
the field languished in the background at least 6 strokes further behind the
lead four players. So the final outcome was quickly apparent after the game and
Tom immediately chose a ‘The Cape-Cap’
and a ‘The Cape-Windbreaker’ as his clothing part of the prize (see photo
to the right and the On
Course Presentation photos). “I was quietly confident some weeks ago I must admit. My form had
picked up out at the massive Bat and I suddenly felt things were about the
change for the better” said Tom in an interview after the evening
presentations (see and hear Post
Presentations Interview – Requires latest Window Media Player). The committee congratulates Tom on his very
convincing win on the day.
Accurate
Jack Dominates the NTPs: This competition also had a prize for
‘nearest the pin’ for every par three on the course. Thus there were five
opportunities to win a ball in this section of the competition. Low and behold
‘accurate Jack’ won three of the five NTPs, Pete gained one and the other one
didn’t go off. “Well that will really help my stats on the Bladder” reinforced
Jack at The Evening Presentations
later that night. The committee congratulates Jack on this stunning display of
accuracy. It also congratulates Gordon and Brendan for equal second and one
Pete for the other NTP.
And
a good time was had by all: And so it was for another year. Tom was
the toast of the town and the celebrations went on into the night at chez ‘Min’s on Bayview’. Fritz was voted
‘Best Dressed Player’ and was awarded a ball at some stage of the night. Min
was also the toast of the town for running such a great event. Typical comments
came from people like Emile who was attending his first nnomads Golf Club
championship event. “I think Min did an exceptional job organising this event. The prizes
were second to none, the course fantastic and I couldn’t fault the food and
accommodation” he said at the end of the weekend. The Committee again
thanks Min for organising such a brilliant event.
Tom
Leads The 2006 Competition: And so the first club championship game
for 2006 has been completed and Tom leads the field with an average net score
of 78. As club members will understand the club champion for 2006 will be the
Player with the lowest average
net score at the end of the year across at minimum of three official nnomads
Golf Club Events. It is calculated
as follows:
The gross scores
of each player's best three net scores
from all Official nnomads Events entered, are added together, resulting in the
total gross score. The handicaps used to get these best three net scores are also added together, resulting in the
total handicap. This is then subtracted from the total gross score, to give the
players total net score. The total net score is then averaged, giving the
players average net score. The Player with the lowest average net score at the end of the year will be the club
champion. Entrants must attend a
minimum of three Official nnomads Event competitions.
ShIT N PIS Next Events: So
members and associates! The benchmark has been set and the only thing you can
do about it is to participate in as many official nnomads Golf Club events as
possible in 2006. The next official event is The Shanksy Invitational
Tournament (The SHIT) which is to be played on Saturday the 17th of
June in Melbourne (details available soon). That is the weekend after The
Uralba Open and Shanksy will be in attendance. Following that is the
Patricia Isabel Slape memorial trophy for 2006 (The PIS) which will be run in
