Mid Winter Story: So only seven of the eight players turned up on the day making the competition just that little bit tighter (shame you couldn’t make it Freddie). Stavros the Greek, GMAC, Thombei the Mist and The Captain teed off in the first group with The Bloke, Nurse Min and Markus Octavious closely behind in the second group. It was predicted to be an arduous 9 holes on a cool mid-winter Sunday afternoon at the Bend.

And so it was and it was an exciting day….. and all that….. The second group were allocated a 4^th player by the course management, who turned out to be a policeman, and a very nice golfer he was. In some way he motivated the lads in the second group to lift to a new level…. And they did… The Bloke took out first place with 41 off the stick and a net 30 (got 2 balls for his efforts). Nurse Min then took out second place with 47 off the stick and net 32 (one ball for his effort.) Finally, Markus Octavious, not to be out done, took out the NTP (and got the remaining ball on offer for his efforts). Stavros, Thombei, The Captain and GMAC in the first group just never got into the picture. At the end of a very pleasant 9 holes the presentations were made over a couple of ales under the nnomads Gold Club shelter at the edge of the car park. What better way to spend a mid-winter weekend in Melbourne eh. And a good time was had by all.
